Re: Sitting here crying my eyes out after going to wound care

Well, my nurse came today and my incision is only a very little bit smaller..
I go to my doctor on monday.. so I will see what he has to say. I think I am going to have this vac on for quite a while.
I do not want to sound down or anything but I am so tired of being at home and I really need to get back to work. I know that things could be so much worse,, but I just want to heal and get back to a normal life... I am trying to do everything right and feel very discouraged tonight.
my incision is still 2 1/2 inches deep and 6 inches long.. I have no idea how much longer this is going to take.

there Barb. I know it might be tough, but you can do it . It takes time for an open wound to heal the right way. Keep your chin up and if you need me, I will be here for you. I've been there and know what you are going through.

An update on me...

I went to Wound Care today, because they are having trouble getting home health care set up. Supposedly they are having trouble finding an agency that takes my insurance. Well, I told them about my increased pain, and they explored why....another TUNNEL!!!!

So now they cut me open even further to expose the new tunnel, which makes a total of 8 inches of my abdomen hanging open now. I go tomorrow to get the wound vac put on.

I still have not heard back on the cultures. I called my doc twice today and the nurse from wound care called my doc twice today, as we are all trying to figure out why this keeps getting worse.

So, as the title of the thread says, I am sitting here crying my eyes out yet again. Is it to much to aks to hear some good news???

OH MY GOSH, I am so sorry you have to endure all of this! I saw a show on staff infections and they used *brace yourself, maggots to eat all the dead skin they only eat dead flesh, in order for the new fresh skin to heal better. Have you heard of this? GOOD LUCK MY dear and GOD BLESS

Nobody should have to go through what you are going through. That is horrible, but know that there is so much support that you can get here. You will be in my thoughts and prayers!

Re: Sitting here crying my eyes out after going to wound care

Good luck at DR. I had bad luck today also, as I have pluerisy now. Am lucky compared to you having wound open still, mine is now closed and puckered, but it is very hard work waiting for it to heal, persevere and keep cheerful although you might feel you will never get over this hurdle., I never thought mine would heal.I can tell you when it does heal, I was not in any pain with the wound. Mine feels fine, the dryness has gone where the dressings had been (with the help of moisturises) and also most of the tingling I felt. I feel confident moving around now too. Am thinking about you, keep happy!

thanks beelvue
I am really sorry to hear about your pleurisy, that is very painful. I have had that before.. It makes you feel pretty bad, since every move you make, it can hurt.
I am really trying hard to stay positive and I know that this could be so much worse.. I am just worried about my job. I mean, If I were to have to stay home until this heals, it would be so hard. My boss told me that they hold your job for 8 weeks, that is the company policy, although she said that she knows that the doctors will work with me, which is good.
I have been working for two years for this promotion and I do not want to lose it
Anyway.. I am hoping that my doctor has a good answer for me on monday..Happy 4th everyone.

Re: Sitting here crying my eyes out after going to wound care

You know, I can't believe the difference in employment rules between our countries. Here when you have op. you have to provide notes from your R. and that covers you. It seems very unfair that you could lose your job or promotion if you don't return before the time limit. You do not need that kind of pressure. What job do you do?
