Can testosterone cream cause rosacea?

I am on a low dose (2.5 mg) compounded testosterone cream. I only use it 2x a week (down from 3x week initially because it caused weird, fragmented dreams). About 2 mos. ago I noticed red bumps on my nose and T-zone area and my forehead looks a bit flushed most of the time. I asked my dr. about it and he off-handedly said testosterone could cause rosacea It seems to be getting a bit worse - has anyone else had this problem? I had tried testosterone cream a few years back (stronger dose) and eventually stopped because it caused a five o'clock shadow on my thigh, but no rosacea. This time there's no extra hair but this irritating outbreak on my face. Makes me wonder if it's even worth it to use it. Any opinions?

Re: Can testosterone cream cause rosacea?

You may just be getting rosacea. I don't know if the T cream is causing it or not but you will want to go see a good dermatologist for this condition. I have had rosacea for 15 years and the treatments keep getting better. You could also talk to your doc about stopping the T cream and see if that helps. It could be a trigger. However I would still see a dermatologist just to be safe. You don't want to leave it untreated, it will only get worse.
