Questions to ask Urogynecologist

I have an appt coming up this week at the urogyn. I was wondering, since I am usually well prepared what are the questions to ask. Aside from, what type of incontinence do I have, what is or are the treatments available.....

I normally write down questions to be posed to the doctors and I'm at a loss right now. Any responses would be appreciated

Re: Questions to ask Urogynecologist

Well, I need to come up with my own list for my first appointment with a urogyn this week as well. My issue is the prolapse (uterine, cystocele, rectocele) but not the incontinence. I've already heard the only way to fix my issue is surgical, so my questions tend to be surgical related

How about...

What are the options?
How many of these surgeries have you done?
What has been the outcome of these surgeries?
If the urogyn proposes mesh, ask him what his experience is with patients suffering from mesh erosion.
What are the other risks?
What is the recovery like? How soon to return to work? driving? exercise?
What happens if I do nothing?

Just some ideas...Some fun huh???

Re: Questions to ask Urogynecologist

Are you just having a bladder sling or more repairs? I'd find out what type of repair they plan on doing (vaginal, abdominal or Lap) and why... what is the long term success rate, what are the known complications.
