Lubricant??? Which one to use?

Ok, here goes....
My TVH was 4/1/09.
My dr said I'm cleared to have slow, very slow, and easy sex with my husband, but to take it slow "like an 80 year old." (I'm only 48) Take it easy for now. Those where his exact words.
He also said to use a lubricant.
I've never had to use one before and I don't know which one to use.
I do remember a commercial on TV now about a special lubricant that is supposed to be stimulating (how tempting is that!!!)
My sisters, please help me to choose a lubricant.....

Re: Lubricant??? Which one to use?

Boy, i would just take it real easy. I didn't try til I was at 10 weeks. I used Liquid Beads by KY (they last for up to four days) and on top of that we used astroglide (doesn't get gummy as quick as other lubricants.) Obviously I had a rare situation with the peritoneal lining or fallopian tube that had healed into the cuff. But normally women say just take it very easy the first time and don't worry if it's not quite the same. It will get there. If you experience definite pain, then stop and get ahold of your doc.

Take care,

BTW I would not try anything more stimulating right now. You'll be surprised how much that hyst. affected the tenderness of the vagina and I wouldn't add any stimulating effect. ;-)

Re: Lubricant??? Which one to use?

My dr gave me the okay, but I'm very nervous about it, maybe even scared. I'm afraid of pain, but also what it may be like, will it be as good as before surgery? What if I cannot get an "O" ??

Hi casinogirl!

You may want to order the Very Private Intimate Lubricant sold in the Hystersisters Store. Many members have found it to be very useful.

Most hysterectomy patients find that if their sex life was satisfactory before their surgery, it will be so afterwards...once all of the post-op recovery and healing has taken place, of course. So, I wouldn't worry about this if I were you.

Re: Lubricant??? Which one to use?

I wouldn't put pressure on yourself to get the "o" so soon. Just tell yourself it will take time, and that way, you won't put added pressure on yourself. And who knows, maybe then it will happen. ;-)

Re: Lubricant??? Which one to use?

The absolute best lubricant on the market is a silicone based lube called "PUR". It is a little expensive but worth every penny. Lasts and lasts. It can be found at most intimate stores like "lovers". Good Luck.

Have you ever tried astroglide? Just checking, cause if you have and you like pur better, I will switch! ;-)

Without sounding a little "too" experienced...lol, we (my husband and I) have used many different lubricants including astroglide. I'm telling you...PUR. No joke. THE best.

You rock! Thanks! I've had people recommend stuff other than astroglide to me, but they have never tried astroglide so they couldn't really compare.

Thanks again!
