Physical Therapy

I'm just posting this to follow up on an early post. I've had severe endo for many years that went untreated until it got so bad my doctor did exploratory surgery to discover it. I had my lap. hysterectomy (everything removed except my cervix) on May 14th. I was completely upset because she did not get all of the endo and I am still in quite a bit of pain. She was certain that it wasn't endo related and at 3 weeks post op was a little concerned about the remaining pain. She sent me to a good physical therapist. At my visit the therapist listened and was honest in tellming me that if it's biomechanical she can help if it's not she can't. After looking at me and doing some gentle pressing to identify the pain spots she told me my pain was muscle related and not a deeper pain and that yes she could help me.

Evidently after years of being in pain my muscles were working completely opposite of how they should work. They are constricting my rib cage and making my movement very painful and difficult. She is teaching me to as she put it "after being right handed learning to write with my left hand." or retraining my muscle coordination to work they way they should be. She is doing an ultrasound next week to show me how my muscles are workingand and with excerises how they should work. I'm so hopeful to get rid of this pain. I'll keep everyone posted.

As far as the endo that was remaining. My doctor promised me that with my hysterectomy and ovaries removed the endo that was left was so tiny the pain will go away. She also told me that she did a lot of work internally to get rid of the other endo so my healing is going to take some time.

I guess, knowing that I can do these exercises to retrain my muscles, combined with the knowledge that no more endo will grow I feel very hopeful.

Has anyone else gone this route? I haven't read about PT with endo prior to this so maybe this might help others if it works?

Also, I want to say I just got my 3 - 4 week post op reminder from this site and it helps tremendously! I'm not patient at staying down and recovering. This lets me know whats going on inside and why I feel tired and it's okay to rest. I was raised to always be busy either cleaning or doing something. Resting is extremely difficult to allow myself to do.....I constantly need the reminder so thank you!
