How long before surgical menopause symptoms kick in?

I had a laparascopic hysterectomy with ovary removal on Friday, 5/29.

I haven't had any surgical menopause symptoms yet. How long can it take before it kicks in?

If you are going to have symptoms it can happen anywhere from right after surgery or months down the road. How fast you go through your stored estrogen in your body now that ovaries aren't making any is the key. We are all different and your body will let you know with hot flashes and sweats and other symptoms if you get low.

I had hot flashes right after surgery and sweats so it let me know pretty fast, but not all people have them.

I also went through surgical menopause. I had some symptoms before my surgery such as night sweats, hot flashes and insomnia. For about the first five days afterwards I only had a few hot flashes and they were very mild. I was on no HRT. Every day after that things started to get worse. I finally had to start HRT this week. I haven't found any releif from HRT yet but hopefully it will kick in soon. The only thing I haven't had has been mood swings. My family is grateful for that.
