almost 5 mos post op - pain on lower right side

Well I sure didn't think I'd be back here again so soon!

Several weeks ago I started having pain on the lower right side, kinda where my ovary is. I have a little pain on the left side but it is way worse on the right side. I had a hyso in January but she left my ovaries. I had an u/s done both 6 weeks ago and 2 days ago and there is a cyst on my LEFT ovary but nothing on the right, and the cyst on the left isn't even very big.

So. . . she's clueless and is telling me it's probably my BLADDER. I do not think that because of the location and because I'm not having any other issues besides pain.

When I had my hysto, I did not have endometriosis. My uterus was completely adhered to my bladder and she thought that was wait was causing the horrible pain I had. After the hysto I was pain-free virtually until recently.

I'm just very confused as to what this could be. I'm thinking of going to a teaching hospital in Chicago because I feel at a loss of what else to do. My gyne said she could remove my ovaries too but said it might not get rid of my pain and then I'd be on estrogen AND in pain.

With the u/s 2 days ago they didn't mention any adhesions or anything else abnormal.

Sigh. . . here we go again. . .

Re: almost 5 mos post op - pain on lower right side

Dear Michele:

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems and not feelling well. I know this is hard to do when in pain but first you have to take a deep breath and relax. If I were you I would hae another talk with my ob and if you get no where I would sek another opinion. If you feel it is your ovaries giving you this pain having them removed doesn't necessarily mean you would have to take hormones. I had everything removed a year ago and am not taking hormones and doing fine. Remember we are all different. What is u/s?

I hope this helps and please let me know what you decide and how you are feelling.

Re: almost 5 mos post op - pain on lower right side

Tophatt: u/s is ultrasound.

Michele:

So sorry to hear about this pain you're experiencing! I would agree that continuing to pursue answers either with your current doctor or with another who will dig deeper would be a good idea. I don't think I would agree to more surgery on just a hunch and a "let's see if this works" type deal. Sounds like a shot in the dark to me.

I sure hope you get to the bottom of this and find relief very soon! Take good care of you!

Best,

Is it possibly your nerve endings coming back to life in that area? Just a thought. I agree with Criss. I think that it would be premature to have your ovary removed. Hope you find some answers soon.
