Calling All 1Cs

Hi

My endometrial cancer was staged as 1C. I know much depends on the staging and grade. If you are also a 1C, I would love to hear what (if any) post-op treatments you had and how they were (side effects, effectiveness etc.)

And also just your experiences to help me get a sense of what to expect since I had my surgery less than two weeks ago and only found out I had cancer about two weeks before that.

Thanks

Re: Calling All 1Cs

I was diagnosed with uterine cancer 1A1, and ovarian cancer 1C1 in early December.

All of my lymph nodes, peritoneal wash etc came out clean.

I received 3 rounds of carbo/taxol and got through it pretty easily. The first round caused a lot of bone pain for a day or two, and by the third I was a little tired, but for the most part it wasn't too bad.

My current worry (do they ever end?) is that my CA125 is creeping up...17.8, 19.4, 19.7 and now 24.4. The doc thinks it went up this last time due to a lymphocele I had to have drained a few weeks earlier. Apparently any inflammation in your abdomen can cause the test to elevate. Will test again in 5 weeks.

I hope that your treatment goes easily...we are all fighting together.

Re: Calling All 1Cs

I had ovca 1c. After complete hyst., my treatment was 6 rounds of chemo. Not the easiest thing in the world, but certianly doable. And after that, checkups every 3 months, then every 6 months. In a few weeks I will hit my 5 year mark. (still cancer free). Some Dr.'s go with 3 treatments, and some with 6. I don't think there is any "right" number.

Re: Calling All 1Cs

I don't have experience with endometrial Stage 1C because I had Stage 2A (spread to cervix)--but, I think, 1C means something different in ovarian cancer than it does in endometrial. I think there are some HysterSisters who have had 1C endometrial, who I hope will come along soon to post.
