Removing my right ovary
I had a hysterecomy on 9/15/08. Removed everything but my right ovary. About a month ago, I had this awful pain on my right side, went to the dr. & I had a cyst to burst on my right side. Cyst was still in contact with my ovary. Went back to the dr. today, decided to remove the ovary. I am taking Divagel .50 mg & feeling pretty good, other than the norm : hot flashes (not as bad a before), lack of sleep ( a little better) just getting more migranes in the past month. Now the pain on my right side. But believe it or not this is feeling better to me. Has anyone out there kept one ovary & went back later to have it removed? Would like to hear your stories......
Thanks

Re: Removing my right ovary
Martha, i had my hesterectomy aug 17,2007. I kept my right
ovary. Last year i have so much pain and they told me that i
had a cyst.they did not do anything because they said that it
was small and now for the last week i have been in so
much pain on my right side. I have doctor appointment tomorrow to see what is going on. I wonder if it my right
ovary and i also been having hot flashes two to three days
a week and joint and hip pains.how long did they keep you
in the hospital to removed the right ovary and what is the
recovery time. I hope that my doctor do a ultrasound on
me.at night i cannot sleep on my belly nor sleep on my
right hip do to pain. I hope that you are doing better right
now. I am 44 years old and have two children 16yr old
son and 8 yr old girl.

Re: Removing my right ovary
Hello there,
I am sorry I have not had my surgery to remove the right ovary. Just got everything completed yesterday.Surgery is scheduled for July 20th. However I would really talk to your dr because I am going through the same thing. When I went to the dr, my cyst had already burst & let me tell you it was very painful.... Still sore & the hot flashes are there but trying to hold on till the 20th. I am 39 years old & going through this for several years now. I just lucked up on a dr that truly understands. We opted to keep the right ovary thinking that it would work however it had other plans. I hope everything works out for you. Talk to your dr....

Re: Removing my right ovary
I am going into surgery Tues. to have my left one removed. that's all I have left from a vaginally hyst. 2 years ago. I'm nervous about this, mainly b/c it's the LEFT ovary and those are harder to remove laprscopically.

Re: Removing my right ovary
When I had my left one removed. It was a breeze. I was back at work after 1 week of surgery. I was just wondering if there would be any difference with the left & right ovary being removed? Hope all goes well with your surgery on Tuesday. Just the typical after effects. To be honest the gas part of the surgery was the worst part to me.
You will be just fine.

Re: Removing my right ovary
Thanks for your encouraging words! I am pretty scared based on the 50/50 chance he can't do it lap. and will have to cut me. But... all is well that ends well and I think that it will be fine either way. We just remodeled our home, moved some stuff in tonight, and trying to get it ALL done by Monday so if I am down a while it won't be a big deal. Did you find that you were down for a bit? or was it no big deal when you had your ovary out?
Good luck with your surgery as well. I hope someone will come along with more info for you. Maybe I can pass on my experience from recovery after my surgery, I bet it will be the same though for your right one coming out as your left. This thing is all new to me as my first surgery was a vaginal one, this one being just the last ovary. HUGS!!!

Re: Removing my right ovary
Just looking on the bright side. The chances are like you said 50/50. But the way that I was looking at it, I was tired of the awful pain. I was miserable. You are in m prayers & God is going to take care of everything & he knows what you can handle.
God Bless,
Marsha

Re: Removing my right ovary
In my opinion I don't think it matters which ovary gets removed, I don't think one is harder than than the other to take out. I had my right ovary removed and I still suffer from all the trouble the dr had in removing it. And it actually grew back because he left something behind that regenerated. What you need is a good surgeon who knows what he is doing.

Re: Removing my right ovary
Thank you ! I feel very good about my dr. He has been totally there for me through this whole ordeal. He is the one that done my 1st surgery & will be doing this surgery. I feel 100% comfortable with him. I am just ready for it to be over with. Hope all gets well with you. Thank you once again...
