Hormone concerns

I am HRT. I started three weeks out. My dr and I decided to wait for HRT right after surgery. I didn't need any until about seven days out and then I started to have hot flashes and night sweats. I don't have too many mood swings but I am already on Lexapro. Maybe that helps. I still have hot flashes and insomnia that is driving me crazy. I just started to up my Evamist so maybe that will help. Good luck.

Now you have the idea Sharpie, assess your progress by looking back a few weeks to see the improvement. Let the future arrive in due time, live in the present and do not compare yourself to others - might drive yourself nuts

aabrahamsen1- it is normal to have good days and not so good days. Listen to your body and rest when it tells you to. If you think your getting sick or an infection speak with your doctor and catch it early. Hope you feel better in the morning.

Hormone concerns

sharpie, I can relate. I have arthritis and was scheduled for a total hip replacement in November, but had to have this TAH/BSO due to a complex ovarian mass.

I am home, day 9, and going to have my staples removed tomorrow... I anyway take pain meds for my joints, and I had just decided (before diagnosis) that I was going to reduce them because I have an excellent physiotherapist. Well, I didn't reduce them and they are barely holding me for the incision pain, and I feel like "There's three months of PT down the drain..."

Oh, and yes, my temp goes from 36.9 to 37.6 (that's 98.4 to 99.7) like a bleeping yo-yo, and I get weakness waves like you wouldn't believe.

I've been told there are two good remedies for all this: Patience and Time. I surely hope so.

I have had everything taken away too and I have seen no stiches come away either (4 weeks yesterday). I think you are normal feeling the way you do. I have been given HRT, Hormonin which is a mixture of hormones since last week. I felt quite good back end of last week but I think it was a placebo effect. They don't get into your systm for a few weeks. Last 3 days I feel very flat and weepy. DR told me I had no hormones to check in blood test but he would do one if I wanted. I do trust him so will give it time. Few months does seem a long tome to wait for something though?

Sorry you're feeling low. I'm sure once you get the HRT and get back to your normal routine and your exercise you'll feel more like yourself again and less down and weepy. It must be so hard. A friend told me yesterday she had a real dip 2-3 weeks post-op and to prepare myself, that it's not a steady upward curve. Dont try to compare your situation. it does seem everyone's op/circumstances are quite different. Hopefully you are healing and recovering, even if it feels so slow.
take care of yourself.

Howdy Beelvue!
I'm okay. My au pair wasn't around today, so I have done a couple of things on my own (opening windows! etc but hey, a neighbour's cat got in and I was afraid it would spray or something!) that I shouldn't have done, but Im generally really good. I do feel like i need to lie flat on back for a couple of hours/lots during the day as when I stand/sit I do get a swelly belly over the incision. In morning, it's totally flat and feels comfy. I want au pair to get back NOW and do some chores/pick up some things off floor that Ive dropped ! haha I'm busy wrapping birthday gifts for BIL and my daughter (7 on Friday!) and chilling out with Wimbledon.

Unfort I have to go into town today to meet a friend from US for dinner. I could use a couple of extra days rest first, but hey ho. Minicab each way and just a bit of walking (along south bank so great views! and lovely day!) so hoping it's all gentle and okay.

How are you? Is your infection getting better? I think I read your wound is still weeping? That s&cks!! I hope its dry and happy soon. I am so sad to read that you had watered down wine and feel like crap afterwards. I am counting minutes until I can have a wee glass to cheer meself up! haha The friends Im meeting tonight are teetotal so no temptation there. I cant have any until no codeine at all anymore.

Ah well. I'm taking it easy and generally quite good. Looking forward to the 'bounce' from not bleeding to death this month! and the next month, and the next month..... :-)

ps wow re your weight loss! ker-ching! I think it's really disconcerting to have a big fibroid. You just get down, thinking whatever you do your belly keeps getting bigger, but it's NOT YOUR FAULT! (unlike most biscuit/induced weight gain!) so Im pleased some of my tum will be gone and itll be good incentive to keep on straight and narrow, loads of fruit and some gentle exercise. great!

Cleo in London, not sure that it was the fact that the wine was watered down or the fact that I had the wine at all that made me feel crap! I hink it was just the wine really! I hope you enjoy yourself tonight! It will do you good. I went to my best friends wedding as bridesmaid 2 weeks after op. and i didn't do much apart from sitting down and getting pics taken, but i could hardly walk late at nght. Sometimes early on after op. sitting down may be as bad as walking about! Hope you have a great night anyway! Take care x I would love to send a smiley, but can't remember how! I think they took some brain cells too!

Haha! re brain cells. Yes, I understood it was the wine, not the watering down that was the problem, but still.... sigh. I'd love a nice cold glass of Pinot Grigio! Heart says yes, body says 'are you insane?!?!'

Tx - i agree re sitting. Im trying to lie prone for long periods (Wimbledon helps!) as it really eases pressure on scar and swelling above goes right down.
