Joint pain and feeling sad - normal?

Hi, I had TVH on June 23rd and I think I am doing great. I had the procedure at 8am and was out about 940am, other than the shakes, I did OK with anesthesia and I went home the next day about 10am. On that day i was out of it and pretty much the next day also. I stopped taking narcotics on the 25th and just took advil and tylenol. I really do not need any meds for pain now, but I was wondering if anyone else had joint pain especially the hips after surgery? Thank you for all of your support. One more thing I am a little sad, I do have one ovary because one was bleeding uncontrollably and had to be removed, is feeling sad normal?

Re: Joint pain and feeling sad - normal?

Grieving is a normal response to having a big surgery. You will be sad for a while but it does get better. As for the hip pain, that is pretty normal too. During surgery, they tip you head down and the push your legs apart for the duration of the surgery. My surgery was 5 hours long and I had hip pain for 7 weeks afterwards. I asked at my 6 week check and the doctor explained it to me. Ouch!! Yup, it's going to ache for a bit. The tylenol and advil will help with it.

Hang in there, it does get better.
