Re: Staples coming out tomorrow, will it hurt?

I had my 25 staples removed one week post op. I was very nervous and tense. It just felt like little mosquito bites. There were a couple of tender ones where I was having a little pain in the incision anyway. But even there, it was really no big deal. The "glue" and steri strips were then put on. I was told to let them fall off by themselves. It took a couple of weeks before they all fell off. Getting the staples out was fast, so that made it better too!

Re: Staples coming out tomorrow, will it hurt?

Hello! I had my staples removed yesterday 9 days post-op. It did hurt a little since some of the staples were being stubborn but it was just like ittle stings no big deal. He decided not to apply steri strips to me but you will probably have them since it is mosty protocol. They just fall off after a week or longer. After the staples were out I felt so much better and you will too. The staples were irritating me. Happy recovery to you!

It was also noticably easier to walk once the staples were out. They have no give!

Re: Staples coming out tomorrow, will it hurt?

The staples (25) felt like a little "pop" to me when the dr removed them. My husband laughed afterward. He said it must not have hurt because I wasn't making any faces! I talked to the dr throughout the process, to keep my mind off of it. No worries! You'll be fine. ps...the steri strips....take them off in the shower. Mine were still on with full pressure after two weeks so I slowly started to peel them away in the shower and that works ALOT better than ripping them off like a band aid!
Take care.

Re: Ovary removal surgery, Staples coming out tomorrow, will it hurt?

Your staple removing visit will not hurt. It's not like they are going to grab a staple remover and yank them out. They have this neat little tool that cuts them through the center and the just lift the out. One or two may sting a little, but it will feel much better. Steri strips will fall off by themselves. Good luck. Hey, the worst is over!

Re: Ovary removal surgery, Staples coming out tomorrow, will it hurt?

I have had staples removed after various surgeries, I usually just feel a little pinch. Nothing extremely painful. I think the anticipation is worse than the actual removal.
