Pubic bone burning/pain post op

Hello, I'm Donna and new to the site.
The day after my surgery, when I stood up for the first time, I had an intense burning pain on the right side of my pubic bone. It lasted for a few days and would hurt when ever I stood up. At the 4th week of my recovery, the pain returned and has gotten much worse. I have spoken to 3 doctors now, they think it is a nerve or muscle that was effected during surgery by a retractor. They are in the process of ordering a cat scat....
Has anyone else experience this post op?
No amount of ibuprofen takes it away!
Thank you!
Donna

Re: Pubic bone burning/pain post op

Hi Donna,
You will be happy to know that you are not alone. I could have sworn that my used a crow bar to force my hip bones apart while he was in the area. My left hip bone hurt like the dickens! When I mentioned it too him and jokingly asked if he was sure he removed all of his surgical equipment he just laughed. Could have smacked him a good one! He did say that he did have to move a lot of body parts ariound so it was very likely that I would be sore in some unusual places. It did go away after a few weeks, but while it was here OUCH!

Take care and hope you are feeling better soon

Re: Pubic bone burning/pain post op

I have had constant burning and pain in general since my June 9th surgery and it's not getting any better. My entire stomach area hurts to the touch.

My surgery was abdominal due to a severe case of adenomyosis. I have had 6 prescriptions from Percoset to lastly, Lortabs - and I've never been one to take much of anything more than Tylenol or Motrin. I am still miserable at 5 1/2 wks post op. My doctor will not prescribe anything more and my next dr. appt is not until next Tuesday (July 21st).

I am still not able to do anything without severe consequences of pain. I don't know what to do and see no end in sight for all this pain, which still wakes me up all night long.

I'd love to hear any suggestions as nothing thus far is helping. My surgery was on June 9th and I'm supposed to be going back to work in a mere week!!

I'd love to hear from anyone, as I'm at my wits end!!!

Re: Pubic bone burning/pain post op

I am soo sorry hon....I've had this pain for 4 weeks tomorrow....and my surgery was on May 28th...my doctor has ordered a cat scan for this coming wednesday....
I just keep pushing my doctors to find a solution because they were all just taking guesses as what it is....
Being my own medical advocate can be hard...yet beneficial...and if you don't feel like you can, bring somebody with you who will.
I hope you start feeling better very very soon!!!!!!!
Peace and many blessings,
Donna

Re: Pubic bone burning/pain post op

Hi, again. Thanks for your words of support. I'm up in the wee hours of the morning again - it's 3:20am in florida. It seems like I need to have it looked into! My family has been saying so, but when the dr kept approving my meds week after week, I figured it must not be anything alarming. I am awake every 2-3 hours because of the pain. I'm swollen and feel like when you are 8 months pregnant with the pressure up towards your lungs and sternum. I may have to make a trip to the er today. Back to bed with an ice pack.

Hi, Donna.

Let me know too what your testing shows. I have moved my doctor's appt up to tomorrow a.m. and am going to insist that he do something like an MRI or such.

Talk to you soon.
