Thick, hard, red scar

I'm almost 3 months post-op. My scar is really ugly. It's a thick, hard ridge that's really red. Any remedies that work to reduce scar tissue?

Re: Thick, hard, red scar

Me too. Got the same thing. It is a keloid - hard, red, raised, strip, and irritated against clothing.

I am using cicacare silicone strips that plastic surgeons use to soften keloids. Supposed to wear for months tho. Not sure if the strips, or time, make the hard scar soften.... the jury's out for me. Internet says they are proven to work to reduce scars, especially from newer injuries.

So we will see. However, the re-usable strips are really nice and soft and make it easier to wear pants. They stick to your skin with a soft sticky substance that peels off easily and without pain. Got them over the counter at the drug store - not cheap ($60) but lasts for months!
