Internal Stitches Tear - Pain????

Has anyone ever had their internal stitches tear the muscles apart? I am 6 week post-op and my doctor is sending me to the ultrasound place tomorrow because I am still having immense pain and swelling. It is mainly in my left side of my abdomen. I feel good when I first wake up but as the day goes on, I get sorer and sorer until I can't even walk at night and my stomach is super swollen. If I pick up my right leg my left side of stomach hurts. I had a HORRIBLE bronchitis type cough for TWO weeks after surgery because of the traichia they used in surgery and he thinks that might have torn my stitches apart. He also said there might be some blood or fluid build-up. Has anyone ever experienced this? What happens if my muscles are torn - do I have to have surgery again? Has anyone ever experienced this much discomfort at 6 weeks?

Thank you for the support! Hopefully I will find someone who has had this happen to them and I can get some insight as to what to do next...I definitely don't want to have another surgery...ugh.
