Trying to make it through the night

I am just posting to try to get through the night. I am actually afraid to go to sleep. I am 3 weeks post op from a LAVH. I have not had a good recovery at all. My first week home I ended up with an infection. Got rid of that and even began feeling better although this pain in my side into my back won't go away. I did do some things last week that I shouldn't have but I thought I was doing better. As everyone else I have had a lose of appetite and I have lost about 8 pounds since my surgery. Now, I can't even eat at all. In the past 3 days all I have been able to eat is a couple bites of soup and a couple bites of chicken. I feel like the food is going to come back up. I am so tired and weak. My head is feeling really wierd, I keep getting dizzy, and feel like I could pass out. I did call the surgery floor nurse, who tried to get me to go to ER, but I hate ER doctors. She called my doctor who said to eat something and drink more and if not better to call him back in about 4 or 5 hours. That is now. I did try to do what he wanted but couldn't. I am not going to call him this late at night because he will just say to go to ER, I am planning on calling DR office first thing in the morning. Now I am afraid to sleep. What if there is something really wrong with me other than no food, and I don't wake up. Is that even possible? Sorry that this is kinda boring stuff but I just need to vent and get through til morning.

I am so sorry to hear you are having a rough time. I am also 3 weeks out. I don't know the abbreviations though.....they took it all via laporoscopy. I hate e/r docs too but it might be worth it to go and let them take your blood pressure and other vital signs.

My view is that I would rather be safe than sorry. If you don't feel any worse than 5 hours ago, and think you can wait till the morning to see your doctor, show up on his doorstep at 8am. But if you are loosing blood, or have not been able to eat much at all, you are probably dehydrated and something is not right. Get yourself some treatment. You should be eating more than you are reporting. At least in the ER they can take some immediate lab work, check your electrolytes and see if you are bleeding internally. I think I would do that. Best of luck, feel better.

I would go to the ER. I'm not a fan of them either but at least you'll right away what is wrong. Your dr may end up sending you there anyway. Ask for a female dr.-that's what I did when I had to go to the ER post op eventhough my dr is a male-I've known him for years and trust him. The woman er doc made a huge difference for me.

Re: Trying to make it through the night

Ok, so I have made it through the night, call my dr first thing, they finally call me back and tell me to wait and see how I feel in the morning. I do have an appt. at 10:30. I just don't think I can wait until then, and that is what I told them. I guess when DH gets home from work I will let him take me to ER. I still cant eat and drinking is starting to make me sick too. Will let everyone know how it all turns out.
