Scared-complex ovarian cyst/lesion in uterine wall

Hi, I am scared too. My doctor sent me for a sonogram and then sent me a letter telling me to call him. In the letter it stated they found a complex lesion in the wall of the uterus and a much larger lesion about the size of a baseball. However my troubling was a complex right ovarian cyst. I have appointment for a abdominal hysterectomy set for next monday. July 27. Should i worry alot. I am to scared to google or read much. Will talk to doctor more tomorrow.

Re: Scared-complex ovarian cyst/lesion in uterine wall

23Hester,
I am sorry you are facing these medical issues. Major surgery alone is scary and if one suspects cancer that makes it even more scary.
If your doctor has mentioned cancer or pre-cancer may be present, and s/he is not a gyn/onc, I strongly recommend you consider consulting with one and also having one at your surgery as if the C beast is found other procedures (such as possible abdominal wash, possible lymph node inspection, etc.) may need to be done.
Complex ovarian cysts may or may not be cancerous. I am not certain re what the lesion(s)in the uterine wall may be, perhaps your doctor provided some explanation?
Again, pls consider seeing a gyn/onc if cancer is suspect. Some women hesitate not wanting to offend their gyn; pls remember it is your body and your life and many gyns actually immediately send their patients to gyn/oncs when cancer is suspect. Pls keep us posted.

Re: Scared-complex ovarian cyst/lesion in uterine wall

You didn't mention whether the doctor doing your surgery is a gynecological oncologist. If not, I agree with peggiesue, that you should consult with a gyn/onc and either have one do the surgery or be present to do the procedures during surgery to check for cancer. Certified gyn/oncs have 3 additional years in oncology training and more experience in surgical procedures to check for and remove cancer.

Re: Scared-complex ovarian cyst/lesion in uterine wall

Hello, I'm so sorry you are having this terrible scare. I am pretty new here but I took the advice of the others in going to a gyn/oncs and I am so very glad I did. I know it can be a hassle that you don't want to deal with right now, but believe me it will be better in the long run. I decided that i just wanted to be sure I had the best, and I knew if I didn't I would always be worried in the future. I know your date for surgery is coming up soon, but you are not locked in to this date. At least get go for a consultation with an oncologist...Take care.
