Help I'm lost...
Hi everyone;
Im new to this forum, and have looked around and not knowing where to post this.. I posted here. Im scared and confused. I had a LSH on June 8th 2009, and still to this day( July 20th) I am still in pain. She has me on pain meds and they dont seem to work very well either. My pain in mostly in my left ovary area, it shoots down my leg and my back. My Dr. thought cysts or leftover fluid from the surgery . She had an ultrasound done on my ovaries and my kidneys. Results came back and she said everything pretty much looked good. But I'm still having pain. I tried to go back to work for half days. I work in an office so nothing to strenuous, I couldnt handle the pain and came home. I try to walk around to get the blood flowing so to speak, it doesnt help. My dr said to stretch, and i have and it makes it hurt worse. I don't know what to do. Does anyone have and suggestions or ideas for me ?

Re: Help I'm lost...
Stephanie, I am experiencing pain (pretty bad today) on my left side, in my back and down my leg. I had tried stretching for a few days, but it made it feel worse. I think I may be experiencing sciatica pain- nerve, not muscle. I feel worse after sitting upright in a chair, or getting in and out of the car. It really hurts when I lean down to put on my shoes. But walking doesn't bother me at all. I have contacted my Dr but haven't heard anything yet. I am taking ibuprofen, it is helping. Does this sound anything like what you are experiencing?

Re: Help I'm lost...
My only thought is that it sounds like nerve pain. I would see a doctor to see if there is anything you can do. I have a friend right now dealing with the sciatica nerve & it looks really painful. Sorry you have to go through that. Keep up posted.

Re: Help I'm lost...
sounds pretty close to what I am goin thru aside from the fact that ibuprophen 800mg an 7.5 mg vicoden doesnt help.
and to top it off i still have to clean my incisions with perroxide because they arent healed yet. and of course the one incision at my belly button started bleeding. So now Im crying and just don't know what is happening =(

Re: Help I'm lost...
I'm so sorry for all you're going through.
I had the same surgery you did, and on the same day.
It sounds like nerve pain to me too.
But as the ladies here have also told me, recovery takes time - more time for some. I haven't even had my two week post-op appointment yet (Wednesday) so I try to remember that I haven't been out of surgery for that long at all.
I don't know about you, but my emotions are running wild - up one minute, down the next.
And I find that I have a pretty good day, and then the next it feels like I've taken two steps back.
Sending lots of good thoughts to you.

Re: Help I'm lost...
It sounds like sciatic nerve pain. Pain pills won't work on that! If you can, consult a chiropractor. When I had that pain when pregnant, my chiropractor was the only way I could get any relief.

Re: Help I'm lost...
Well thanks everyone for your thoughts.. I will talk to my Dr. tomorow and see what she says about the nerve thing. I just hope it gets figured out soon. I guess I'm jsut impatient .. lol I thought I would be feeling better by now. She ( my doctor) told me 3-4 week recovery time..... that seems to be way off now...lol. Thank u all for your support. It's nice to know there are people out there that are in the same boat as me.

Re: Help I'm lost...
 StephanieDawn -
Sorry to hear you are having issues.
The things doctors don't tell you is that when they tell you 4 to 6 weeks or something like that, what they are talking about is initial recovery time. Full recovery takes months depending on what all you had done.

Re: Help I'm lost...
I healed very slowly. I was not doing half the things they said I could at 4 weeks. But now I am glad that I didn't push anything because I am doing pretty well now. It is very hard to be patient but you will keep getting better each day. I am amazed out how our bodies heal. Hang in there.
