Pain and my abdomen is distended and hard - is this normal?

new here had surgery yesterday lots of pain and my abdominal is distended and hard i am not sure if this is normal, can someone help

Welcome to Hystersisters! I'm sorry you're hurting like this. It could be gas that's causing your distention and pain. A lot of women have pain from that. I can't say for sure, but think it would be wise for you to check with your dr. I used GasX to help relieve the gas. I also used a warm rice bag to help with some of the cramping kind of pain I had right at first.

thank you for the advise, rough night due to incision sites, bladder issues as well, this a.m. i do feel a little better this am, i slept on the couch and my husband slept on the loveseat in order to help me get up during the night

Yep, the gas has been a surprise to me. I knew to expect it and started taking gas-x the night before my surgery and again immediately after my surgery. What's surprised me is how it feels. The day after surgery, I started having bad pain and my stomach felt bigger. Not sure why I didn't realize what it was but thankfully one of the nurses did. A few min's in the bathroom and I felt 100% better.
