does progesterone help with the weight issues

I haven't posted for awhile- still having trouble with weight gain.... I have been doing some reading on progesterone helping alot with estrogen dominance issues.. weight gain, sex, breast tenderness..sleep difficulty brain fog... I thought I would give it a go. I have been using estradiol and testosterone for a few years and feel pretty good, but I keep putting on the pounds--like 2-3 pounds a year-even with diet and a walking program .. I haven't been able to find the answer to why the weight.....My question to my gal pals out there is has anyone had success with adding progesterone..after just taking estrogen for alot of years.???.. about 14 years for me.....I tried progest. about 2 years ago and I think I started out on too high of dose and had side effects so I quit.... I didn't feel good on it... but after reading Dr. Lee's book on progesterone--I got excited about it..I would really appreciate anyone's input on this. And how long did it take to see results? still trying to find the old me......

Re: does progesterone help with the weight issues

I would like to see differents responses to this as well. I am only 2 months post op and have gained 13 pounds since my surgery. I am only on the vivelle dot patch .1 mg for now. I go back to my dr. this coming Friday for blood work. I have been taking restoril for the sleep issues. Brain fog is horrible. I know exactly what that feels like! My dr. thinks I may have too much estrogen. Hopefully someone else will have a similar experience and give us some good advice. Hang in there!

Re: does progesterone help with the weight issues

I can't say for sure if progesterone helps or not. I am one who needed progesterone after the tah/bso. Initially it was difficult for me to lose any weight, even with progesterone. I think it takes the body some time to adjust to menopause. There really are not any quick, magic answers. It can take time and patience to find the right hrt mix for you.

There is some good info about weight issues and other hormone issues at www.hormonejungle.com

Re: does progesterone help with the weight issues

With progesterone, I don't have the bloating and nausea. It seems to help me even out the moods too.
