Re: Wait for sex at 6 weeks or did you give in?

I am 4 weeks post-op and could NOT hold out!

We went about things very gently and carefully and I have not had any problems. No pain, no bleeding.

Without trying to be gross, he did not go as deep as usual because I was a bit apprehensive.

Good Luck.

Re: Wait for sex at 6 weeks or did you give in?

My Dr told me not until at least six weeks and there is NO way I am going any earlier. Thank goodness I have a very very very understanding DH who said my healing is the most important thing right now. No sense in messing things up and having to wait EVEN LONGER than six weeks.

Re: Question about resuming intimacy

Hi Lady 2009!

I hope you'll wait until your doctor gives you clearance before you resume intercourse. While we expect to get that clearance at the six week point in recovery, many Sisters are disappointed to find that they have not healed well enough to safely resume sex. There is a very real risk of tearing out stitches and of infection if sex is resumed before everything has healed and of course only your doctor can determine if you have reached that point. Having been an active member/Hostess on this site for many years I've read a lot of scary stories where there were very bad outcomes when sex was resumed before the doctor gave clearance.

I agree with (((Leslie))) that it's not worth the risks as it very well could set you back to having to wait an additional six weeks...or more.

Here are resource links I highly recommend to all Sisters who haven't yet received clearance from the doctor:

Best wishes as you continue to heal!

Re: Question about resuming intimacy

I heard all the bad things that can happen if you don't wait until you are all the way healed & there was no way I was taking that chance. I got cleared at 8 weeks but we waited until 11 weeks because I wanted to make sure everything went well. I was very glad I waited. Best wishes.

Re: Question about resuming intimacy

I was told at 6 weeks I was a slow healer. I had to wait another 4, had issus and had to wait another 2.

Please for your own sake do other things so that you can "hold out". It can cause issues.

Re: Question about resuming intimacy

I had my LAVH on July 22 and my doc told me to wait only 4 weeks. He actually said that I should resume at 4 weeks as this would help with my recovery by lossening up any remaining stiches that had not dissolved. I have absolutely no pain at the 5 day mark so Im hopeful that I wont at 4 weeks! I see the doc again at 6 weeks!

Re: Question about resuming intimacy

I saw my Dr. at 3 weeks and she said to just wait 3 more weeks and then give it a try. At 3 weeks I guess I was healing well and on schedule. I'll tell you what keeps you on the straight and narrow with the wait.... a rectocele repair. I am so tender with a huge lumpy/bumpy suture line that goes from the outside all the way up inside. I don't know how I will ever manage sex again at this point. We've had very little lapse in "playful fun" as there's plenty of ways to go about things, but I know I would be in great pain if I tried right now. I'm just hoping that things improve in another two weeks, and if not I'll just wait until they do.

Re: Question about resuming intimacy

Hi Princesses,

Although I would very much like to resume our "activities" I am greatful to have a patient and self-controled DH.
I agree with the other ladies, the risks are not worth the pleasures. Please wait untill the gives the go ahead before resuming. I assure you there are other ways to keep your DH happy and satified until you are healed and ready for him.

Re: Question about resuming intimacy

I saw the Dr at 5 weeks (yesterday) was told everything was fine and I had healed properly so we tried. I bled a little afterwards so I'm thinking we may need to wait just a little longer.
