Swelly Belly after LAVH DaVinci?

Day 5 of my LAVH DaVinci still have ovaries. Not needing pain medicine anymore alternating Tyleno & Advil. Is this about the time you notice your swelly belly? Or does this just happen to TAH? Just curious, because my belly is bigger today. Guess it could be that I am eating more and no longer cleaned out as before surgery. Did have 3 BM's that was scarey you feel like you are going to pop a stich. Overall I am feeling pretty good, not ready for a marathon but doing well. The last several mornings I wake up with a headache anyone else have this? Found out real quick laughing is not fun. Still have the gas too, but GasX works.
Thankful to have the surgery behind me.

Re: Swelly Belly after LAVH DaVinci?

The swell belly can last from 6 months up to a year. Mine went away around the 5th month. Now that I am doing the Wii Fit it is a tiny bit swollen. Just don't overdo it. I still have to take gas-x some days too. It does get better! Hang in there.

Re: Swelly Belly after LAVH DaVinci?

I'm 8 weeks post op and still have swelly belly even after losing weight. I heard it takes a while for the gas that they pumped your stomach with to get out. I even had an ultrasound four weeks post op and they couldn't see my ovaries because I still had so much gas.

I'm starting a new job and I had to email my principal because I've had people ask me if I was pregnant. I told her I had major abdominal surgery and that I wasn't pregnant.

I've heard physical therapy helps. I'm going to ask my primary care dr about that.

Re: Swelly Belly after LAVH DaVinci?

I had a LAVH DaVinci - just over 4 months and I was beginning to think my belly would forever be larger - but it is just now starting to get back to normal.. so it really does take a few months.

Re: Swelly Belly after LAVH DaVinci?

Hi
I had my daVinci on July 15th. I too have a swelly belly. It is the most uncomfortable in the afternoon/evening. I thought it was because I was sleeping so much, and fluid was not moving around my body. The swelly belly IS inconvenient, but I think that the hot flashes I am having are THE WORST. I got to keep the ovaries, but I think they are not adjusting too well. Thank goodness I can shower!!!!

Re: Swelly Belly after LAVH DaVinci?

At least I know I am not the only one, guess I didn't expect the swelly belly since I didn't have a big incision. I am also having the hot flashes & I kept my ovaries. Guess the body takes a while to figure it all out. Do you have headaches? I have been waking up with a headache the last 3 mornings, tylenol takes care of it though.

Re: Swelly Belly after LAVH DaVinci?

Hi again
I had one big headache so far... I think I had done too much, and didn't drink enough water. Maybe since I am sweating so much, I need extra water to replace it. Ibuprofen and rest took care of the headache.
Wishing you a speedy recovery
