pain management specialist for chronic pain of IC and endo

I am just wondering if any sisters have been to a pain management dr and how was the experience? I am in pain every day and don't know what else to do!

Re: pain management specialist for chronic pain of IC and endo

I have been to a pain management doctor at a learning hospital in Southern CA. I have only met with her once but she is working with my gyno/oncologist, regular gyno and urologist and kind of over seeing my care. I too have endo and several other conditions. I have been on motrin 600 mg and vicodin for severe pain. My doctor is now ending the vicodin and I will probably just be on motrin.

I am also doing yoga, walking and accupuncture to help with the pain management. The yoga and accupuncture are really relaxing and now I am learning to release tension. When I am in extreme pain I sometimes get stiff from tension but I am learning to relax my muscles and use breathing to get thru. It helps but it definitely not better than pain meds. I also find a hot bath and hot compress on the abdomen helps with pelvic pain. I actuall use the hot compress on the abdomen a lot and would highly recommend a heating pad.

Re: pain management specialist for chronic pain of IC and endo

Thank you for the advice, I have also done accupuncture and I practice yoga every day. It does help with the tension, but as you said it doesn't get rid of the pain. I have tried everything, I am just hoping a specialist can help!
