Trouble Sitting - TVH - 4 Months Post Op

I'm back hoping to hear from others you may be experiencing the same or similar symptons.

I had a TVH on 5/17/01 and am almost 4 months post op. I still feel like I have something inside of me like a tampon or am very swollen. Whenever I sit upright, it feels like I am sitting on something foreign or like something hard and it is uncomfortable and most of the time painful. I am still sitting on pillows or pads to relieve the pain.

I had a ultrasound and have been check by two doctors. The ultrasound was negative and both doctors say things look fine inside. They both have no explanation for my discomfort and pain. The doctor who did the surgey says he has never seen or heard about anything like this. I have a hard time believing him. I have convinced him to get the health insurance to authorize a pelvice MRI but that will take another 2 or 3 weeks.

Does anyone else have these problems? I think these problems are more common with vaginal hysterrectomies. I am ready to find another doctor, but I am losing my hope with any doctor.

Thanks,
Debbie

urogyn

Are you seeing a urogyn? What you describe, to me, and based on what I have read here, sounds like a possible prolapse of some sort. How did these docs check you? Did they do a full pelvic and also have you stand and bear down while checking? I was diagnosed with a rectocele which did hurt, felt like a bulge and caused some pain. This is what my urogyn did to tell if it had one. You may also have some scar tissue or vaginal cuff problems. I'm no doctor, but I would not settle for no answers about this. You owe it to yourself to see another doctor. Make sure the doctor specializes in urogynecology and pelvic floor issues, not just a ob/gyn or a general surgeon. I hope you get some answers soon. I will pray you find the healing you deserve.

Thanks

Hi Druid,

Thanks for responding. I think the doctor who did my surgery is a urogynelogist but I have to make sure. He and the urologist both did a pelvic exam and send that I don't have any prolapses. However, I no longer trust the doctor who did the surgery. I am going to call around and find a urogyn and get a referral to another doctor. There has to be something wrong. I have had this discomfort and pain since the 3 or 4th week of surgery. I am starting to think it has something to do with the cuff or something else the doctor did when he did the surgery. I am so frustrated and have lost hope of finding out any answers.

Thanks for the suggestions and I'll keep you posted.

Hugs

Hi,
I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. I understand how frustrated you must feel. A second opinion wouldn't be a bad idea at all. You are still a little early in recovery considering the thoughts around here are it takes 6-12 months or more for some of us to feel ok. I hope you don't have prolapses and the docs could very well be right - but that means you still need some answers. I will pray you find them.

Thank You

Druid,

Thank you for your support. I really appreciate it. I was hoping to hear from others you might be having a similar problem in their 4th month. That would give me some hope that I am not the only one dealing with this, and it might just be part of the recovery process.

Thanks again and I'll keep you posted.

Debbie
