Surgery tomorrow-wanting to know if you can wear lotion on arms and legs

I have my surgery tomorrow wondering if you can weat lotion on arms and legs? I was also wondering if you can have product in your hair, I know that sounds silly but I did not get any instructions from my Dr. about this and wanted to be prepared. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks so much!

I lotioned my arms and legs and put gel in my hair on the day of my procedure and didn't have any problems. I didn't receive any instructions from the hospital to the contrary, so I did what I normally do every day...

I was told no lotion or any hair products before my surgery. I encourage you to call your doctor and/or hospital to make sure.

Best wishes! I'll be thinking about you!

The RN at the hospital told me no lotion, powder or deodorant tomorrow morning. I agree with Deb, give your DR a quick call and see what he says.

Good luck tomorrow morning, surgery buddy!

We'll both be Princesses by noon tomorrow!!

yeah, my instructions say the same thing. NO deodorant, lotion, hair product, NO makeup, no fingernail polish on fingers too if You went out and got a manicure or something. (Bummer right ;-)) and that is because of the pulse ox that they stick on your finger to read your oxygen level.

Re: Surgery tomorrow-wanting to know if you can wear lotion on arms and legs

My Doctor told me no lotions, no perfumes, no fingernail polish and no products, pins or wigs in the hair and to wash with an antibacterial soap and to wash my hair but don't put anything in it afterwards. He told me I could put all those things in the bag I pack for my hospital stay and I could use them after the surgery so that is what I did. I knew my skin would be really dry so I used a thick creamy lotion the night before and washed with the antibacterial soap that morning.

Good Luck to you!!!
I'll say a prayer for you tonight !!!

Wow - I never even thought about it. I wasn't given any restrictions other than no jewelry. I did my normal routine the morning of surgery, including lotion all over, deodarant and leave-in conditioner in my hair. I'd have worn make-up if I hadn't thought it'd be smeared all over my face .

The jewelry was the only restriction I had, too, Catarina. Not only did I lotion my body and lube my hair, as I stated previously, I even had polish on my nails and toes, and there was no way I was going anywhere without deodorant!!

I guess every hospital is different...
