TVH scheduled for August 20

Hi there. I am scheduled for TVH August 20th. I was not nervous until now. But as it gets closer, I am starting to get kind of worked up. I just hope there are no complications. I have a class at the hospital Monday, and then a question and answer Dr visit this coming Wednesday. I just wanted to say hello.

Re: TVH scheduled for August 20

Welcome! THANK GOD FOR HYSTERSISTERS! My TVH is the 17th, and I hear ya. I find I am usually about one comment away from bursting into tears lately. My poor hubby. I can't sleep yet because every time everything gets quiet, my head goes, and I'm crying again, hence...here I am. : ) You are not alone!
Take care!!!

Re: TVH scheduled for August 20

HI
I had a TVH and posterior repair on June 22. I understand your anxiety 100%. The closer it got to my date the more nervous I felt. Getting to sleep was very difficult since I have a great imagination I dealt with it by making sure I got some exercise everyday, by making preparations e.g. cooking meals to freeze, getting in a supply of books and DVD's, cleaning the house constantly, and making lots of bran muffins for my fibre intake afterwards. And I spent time on this website !!The busier I was the less anxious I felt. Once I had my pre-op appointment, I felt less anxious as they explained everything to me. By the time I got to the hospital on the day of, I just wanted it over with so I could get on with recovery and getting on with my new more comfortable life!!!
So you will get through this waiting time----keep busy, make plans for your recovery time and all the best with your surgery.

Re: TVH scheduled for August 20

I had a TVH on July 27th and feel great, two weeks later. My surgery went really well, lasted about an hour and 15 minutes. My worst pain was waking up in the recovery room. I felt like I had to go to the bathroom and had been holding it for hours, except, of course, I had a catheter. The nurse/doctor/p.a. gave me some medicine (I think) and I fell back asleep right away. Once I was in my hospital room, i slept on and off for about six-seven hours but then woke up and felt pretty good, thanks to more painkillers, I'm sure. I was released the next day and stopped taking percocet three days later. I have walked nearly every day since surgery and even jogged a little yesterday.
I know it's hard waiting, but really, that was the hardest part for me too.
Good luck with your surgery.
