Did anyone notice BM had different odor?

Sorry this seems like such a disgusting question to ask. I don't want to offend anyone. I am so thankful that there is a place to go to ask anything like this.
A couple of months before my surgery I started noticing a different odor and it seems more yellow. Even though the pathology report came back as at an early stage (stage 1A) and surgery is considered the cure, I am still very concerned that there is cancer somewhere else. I don't know what to do. Did any of you notice anything like that?

**giggles** I love these topics...its so REAL! LOL

I did notice a change in bm's after surgery, and again after treatments. Things to consider...did you start taking any new meds? Even switching from brand-name to generic? Have you added any vitamins? What about foods...have you changed anything in your diet (including fluids)? Those are the first things you want to look at when you notice a change in how your body is operating.

Re: Did anyone notice BM had different odor?

Hmmm.....I can't think of anything new right now.

I noticed the change before surgery, so it's been about 3 months. I am so concerned about it because I complained to 3 different doctors about the watery discharge I was having because I knew that it wasn't right and no one checked for uterine cancer until there was spotting. One of the doctors even tested for STDs! At that time, I was 48 and had been married for 29 years. I know, not everyone is faithful and all, but still....I was offended.

I am wondering if this other thing is another sign that there is still cancer somewhere else.

Re: Did anyone notice BM had different odor?

I would mention it at your next appt. I've asked my onco about everything from neck pains, to digestion problems to calling her when I had swelling in my leg. If they can't fix it, they know where to point you to get answers. Sometimes I got looks of "say what?" lol but hey, I'd rather ask than stress out. And I'm sure they are used to it. Once cancer hits...everything is ITs fault!

Re: Did anyone notice BM had different odor?

It seems nothing is "sacred" once you get cancer! We talk about these issues a lot in my support group--color, consistency, going too much, or not enough, etc! We probably talk more about this than the cancer itself once we get thru surgery! I can't remember if I had changes before hand (I grew up w/ constipation issues!), but I know there have been many changes after both surgeries, during and after chemo.

I did find some websites about "BMs"--talks about color, texture, etc. Maybe will help explain what might be going on--whether it's in the "normal" range or something to get checked out!

Re: Did anyone notice BM had different odor?

I have noticed lots of changes... Not only in bm's but the smell of my urine is totally different ... and I am still having more of a discharge than I would like.. I asked my gyn/onc about the urine issues and he told me to see the primary care doc for it.
I said the change only came after the surgery, but he really didn't do anything about it.
I wonder if the way things were positioned when they were put back in has anything to do with the way things look and smell when they come out.
