Question regarding intimacy

can I ask you ladies that have had sex already.. did you use a condom? I know we don't need one any more.. but I keep wondering if sperm and viginal cuff/stitches/wound etc.. should mix? I'm still wayyyyyy to scared for sex.. my gp told me to wait till 8 weeks for that and I agree but this could be becuase I had a lot of bladder surgery that me is making me wait till 8 weeks?

Re: Question regarding intimacy

I was released to have sex at my 8th week but I waited until my 11th week just to make sure I was physically & mentally ready. I am glad I waited because everything went fine. Can't answer about the condom but I would think once you are healed you should be fine. Just make sure you are released from your doctor. You could ask the doctor also what he/she thinks. Best wishes.

Re: Question regarding intimacy

I think 6-8 weeks is completely normal. Your vaginal stitches should be healed by then or your Dr probably wouldn't release you for intercourse. A condom isn't necessary, but it sure would make it a lot less messy!

I haven't been released to try it yet myself (supposed to be ok after my 6 week follow-up next Friday) and I don't think I'll ask the DH to wear one - he's been awfully patient this whole time & I want him to enjoy it when we get the green light.

It's scary to think about the first time, isn't it? I'm not sure I'm going to be ready mentally after just 6 weeks. I certainly don't want to damage anything and need to have another surgery to repair it! My DH and I have discussed it a little & I think we're leaning toward using some other "toys" (they actually make them out of pyrex glass now - highly recommend you try it) first just to stretch things out a little & make sure I don't have any pain before we try actual intercourse. We'll see if we have the willpower to actually do that or not!

Re: Question regarding intimacy

I am 4 months post-op TVH. I waited until about 7 weeks before resuming intimacy and we took it really slow. It all worked out fine; no bleeding or pain. My concern with using a condom would be irratation to the vagina from the spermicide they put on them. My other concern would be even with adequate lubrication, I found that there was still some resistence, i.e. things didn't slide as easliy as "all natural" and I think that may cause irratation too. I think you will have to go with what makes YOU feel more comfortable (both physically and mentally). Wishing you all the best!

Re: Question regarding intimacy

i have been given the green light at 6 weeks out... we finally got intimate and we were both nervous and went slow.... my DH chose to release outside (on my belly) of me because we were both scared.... the next time was fine... meaning he released inside.... trying to be delicate...... there were no problems and actually, it was nice the 2nd time around.... less nervous...
i agree, do what makes YOU comfortable!!!! good luck...

Re: Question regarding intimacy

I still havent. I am very nervous to try just yet. I was given the okay at 6 wks. I bought the astroglide and hoping this will help. Im so freaked out about the vaginal cuff being ruptured. Anyone else feeling this way?

Re: Question regarding intimacy

I was sooo worried about having sex the last few days, and I was worrying for nothing. sex was great! we took it slow and it went fine, about the condom your hubby wouldn't have to use one but, it is kind of messy without one. make sure you use alot of KY before you have any fun, it helps alot!

Re: Question regarding intimacy

I was worried about the cuff, but neither of us noticed any difference. I didn't need to use the lube either! I was nervous until we actually got started. Oh, no condom.

Re: Question regarding intimacy

Cat, I don't blame you for waiting. My internal exam wasn't painful at all.
