DaVinci LAVH when did you return to work?

Was curious when other ladies returned to work after having Davinci LAVH? My doctor said I could go back to work 1/2 days after my 2 week checkup if I took breaks.
Did any of you do the same? I have done really good since my surgery. Just get tired here and there.

Re: DaVinci LAVH when did you return to work?

hi! i am so glad you are feeling well- i had a RALH (davinci laproscopic) and i actually took 4 weeks off- i am a preschool teacher so i was a little nervous but if i had a desk job probally 3 weeks. i felt a lot better but even at 4 weeks, when i got home from work i was exhausted and definitely swollen. everyone is different but my advice would be, listen to your body!! good luck!

Thanks for the response. I am actually a hairdresser a desk job would be a breeze at this point. I told my doctor I would be working out of a chair with some standing. Will listen to my body, it speaks pretty vividly these days.

Re: DaVinci LAVH when did you return to work?

Hi there . . . I also had daVinci surgery, but took off work for 6 weeks. My doctor orginally said about 3 - 4 weeks, but when she and I sat down and discussed what I did for a living she said 6 weeks. I work on desktops computers, laptops, printers, etc., and I move a lot of hardware around. Also, sometimes I have crawl around people's desk, actually clean the area aound the computer to get to it, and my doctor just felt that I should take a longer recovery period. I was more than happy to agree with her.

I've been back to work for a week now, and have a lifting restrictions for 5 more weeks. Although I feel great, I know that one bad lift will cause me serious complications, so I refuse to lift anything right now.

Having said all of that, just remember to listen to your own body. Good luck to you!

Re: DaVinci LAVH when did you return to work?

My dr. said 6 weeks to return to work and 2 weeks on painkillers. I thought she was just being overly cautious especially when I only need painkillers for 3 days.

I returned to work on day 10 then 2 days off then worked 3 days (only 6 hr days). My job is sitting down researching on the web so not physically straining. I was exhausted after the first day but at 2 weeks I felt ok. I was amazed at how quickly I felt better after the surgery. Everyday I found things to be easier and less painful. I went to work cause I knew if I stayed home I would try to do too much as I felt soo good.

I should have stayed home longer as I started bleeding heavy on day 17 and spent the next 2 days on percocet and advil and 3 more days on the couch.

Re: DaVinci LAVH when did you return to work?

I'm still off -- it will be a total of 8 weeks, but only because I had some minor complications. I didn't want to go back to quickly and because of the complications, I was really sick for the first 3 weeks.

Just now, I'm starting to feel good, which is a blessing!
