Had Lap Surgery Today for Adhesions

Hi There,
I haven't been on in a while. I had a TAH in Nov 2007 and only had about 6 months of being pain free before it all started up again.
Things have been pretty awful for the past year. I have had chronic pelvic pain and have been on Oxycodone for most of that time. Taking up to 12 a day for the pain and it was only taking the edge off. Went to see a specilaist who decided to operate and see what was causing the pain. My surgery was to be on Sept 21st but was bumped up due to a cancellation (Yay me)
So what I found out when I woke up was that my bowel had been kidnapped by the scar tissue and adhesions and they gave it a new home..IN MY PELVIS. Yep, my bowel was hanging out in my pelvis. This was the reason I looked pregnant and my tummy would get hard as heck when I had to have a bowel movement (sorry if TMI).
So, I am home..still bloated, in a bit of pain but hopeful that this has fixed me up and I can be my old self again. Not back to normal cause that I never was but just to be my crazy old self instead of a doped up pain ridden zombie would be wonderful.
Just wanted to let you all know of "another" thing that can happen after a hyst and what a miserable thing scar tissue and adhesions can be.
If you have any questions at all, please write. I won't be doing much the next 2 weeks!

Glad you are home and doing well. Hope they have you all fixed up and your pain ridden zombie days are in the past and only crazy old self days are in your future!

Re: Had Lap Surgery Today for Adhesions

So glad to hear you are doing great! I had surgery July 25 for adhesions the surgeon couldnt do a lap so did the full abdominal opening was in hospital for a little over a week. Came home for about 4 days and ended back in the ER with a fistula small intenstine was put on a feeding tube and had that nasty tube that went down my nose to my stomache not much fun at all, the pain was horrible. Came home yesterday and am still on liquid diet for the next 6 weeks until inflamation goes down and than another surgery to fix the fistula.
