Help me please I am in so much pain

My hyst was Friday 8-1-09, davinci hysterectomy. I had an uneventful recovery until one week later. I have severe pain, nausea, vomiting. I have lost 7 pounds and cant do anything but writhe in pain. I spike fevers and get aches, chills, and shakes. I called dr Monday and went in for some testing. She said I have an elevated WBC and a vaginal cuff seroma. She put me on flagyl and percocet and thats when the nausea and vomiting and diarrhea started. I called back for something to relieve the nausea, and she refused to prescribe anything. I cant take the pain. I feel like there is a branding iron in my belly. This hurts more than childbirth, more than my c-sections. My parents are worried, my children are terrified. I dont know how to get help. I get pushed from one on-call dr to another because my obgyn is on vacation.

Re: Help me please I am in so much pain

Have you thought of going to your local emergency room to see someone face to face? Maybe you need a different antibiotic? Hope all goes well!

Re: Help me please I am in so much pain

When I came home from the castle the most important thing I was told is that being in pain is not good for the healing process of this major surgery. I agree with Buckeyefan that it might be a good idea to see a doctor face to face.
If you don't feel up to that kind of persistence, ask your DH or your parents to stand up for you! You are the princess right now and need to be taken care of!

Lots of positive thoughts for you and please inform us how you are doing. Get well!

Re: Help me please I am in so much pain

I agree with the suggestion that you go to the emergency room. You need to find out why you are in so much pain and you need to get that pain under control.

Please keep us posted. Feel better soon.

Re: Help me please I am in so much pain

sorry to hear you are in so much pain i totally agree with the others go to the ER and get some help....my doctor also told me don't let yourself get into trouble with pain cause your body will focus on that and not on the healing....hope you find help and relief.

Re: Help me please I am in so much pain

Annie,

I too was in severe pain after my DaVinci procedure. While I'm not comparing the two (I didn't have nausea or vomiting), I made sure I went to the ER or bugged the dr to see me and my dr's office is an hour away!!

It's your body and if you are suffering, you need to see someone. Pls go to the ER if you are in that much pain and see someone.....

Look back thru my posts after July 20th, if that is of some comfort. I was in so much pain that I couldn't see straight.
Now, 3 weeks later I'm doing a bit better. Fight for your health!!

I am so sorry to hear that you are feeling bad. I completely agree with all the sisters go to ER! You have to fight to your health so you can recover and be a mommy to your kids. If you whole family is worried there might be something wrong. Please don't wait go see someone!

Re: Help me please I am in so much pain

Hi I hope you have been seen by now by a doctor. If you haven't and still feel the same I agree you should push to be seen. I went through a similar episode and ended up going to the ER of the hospital I had surgery in. In hind sight I would have gone to a different ER then a doctor not affiliated with your doctors practice would see you with fresh eyes and not worry about stepping on toes. Good luck I pray you get relief very soon.

Re: Help me please I am in so much pain

Thank you everyone for the support. My Dad looked at me this morning and took me to the ER where I still am. At least they are taking me seriously now. I will keep you posted.
