Discouraged - Can't handle much more!!

Well I got the ok to go back to work part time on Monday only after begging. I am going insane sitting at home and worrying about everything so dr agreed to let me go back part time pending my ultra sound. Well, only hours after he agrees to let me go back to work I get the ultra sound results, multiple gall stones. So now I get to go to work on Monday for 4 hours but then I get to also go see a general surgeon to see what he says. My OBGYN has already said that it is going to require surgery. I just can't deal with anymore. I don't really feel like working yet but I just can't handle being at home anymore. My pain isn't too bad as long as I don't eat, so basically I don't eat which has left me with little energy. I have been like this since week 3. Right now I am averaging loosing a half pound per day. Dr is talking about putting me on something for my depression. I just want to cry all the time and sleeping - don't know what that is anymore. I think it is just everything that is happening and don't know if it will help or not. DH is not sympathetic and just seems to care about himself. I can't take anymore. Guess I am just looking for some advice or even encouragement.

Re: Discouraged - Can't handle much more!!

I'm sorry to hear of the gallstone news.

I had my gallbladder removed several years ago. Although, right now, you'd never know. I am on some meds for, of all things Shingles (which I supposedly not old enough to get, HA!). Seems that they may be causing an issue with my liver (aka, producing gallstones without a gallbladder.) I have been having some pains all day today. Argh!

The blood test is supposed to be back on Friday (I hope, as they said 24-48 hours...which could push it to Monday).

I know that it seems depressing, to have to go through this, but trust me, you will be happier if you never have to go through several horrid gallbladder attacks. They are not fun, trust me.

Chin up!!!!

Awe Shana2009, I teared up just reading your post. I am sorry to hear of your challenge's. I am only 1 week post op and already Bored to pieces even though I do not have the energy to even think yet. Because you have to have another Surgery, do you think it would better to have it now rather than to interupt your life when you are back on track? Cheer up, I know easy for me to say but if you have to take something for depression right now hopefully its just for the moment until you get through this.

Hugs from California

Oh Shana -

I am so sorry to hear about the gallstones. I suffered from depression after my surgery and one of my doctor's put me on anti-d's we had to try 3 to get one that worked for me w/ side effects I could handle but they made a world of difference for me (never thought I'd say that).

hang in there your sisters are here for you.

Shanna - I'm so sorry that you're facing yet another surgery but remember that you're strong and you can weather this too. I know you're anxious and frustrated but if the surgery will get back on the path to a healthy life, then go for it and ask your DH to step up to the plate one more time. It can't be easy to be going thru this but I think we've all realized we can handle a lot more than we thought we could. Hugs and stay strong

Re: Discouraged - Can't handle much more!!

Oh girl, I feel for you. They took my gallbladder out almost 2 years ago. If you have to have it removed, very quick recovery. I had it out the Thursday before Thanksgiving and back to work the Monday after. I teach so only missed a few days of work because of the break. It might be best to just get it done as quick as possible. I felt so much better after they took it. Know that we are here for you and you are not alone!

Re: Discouraged - Can't handle much more!!

I am sorry you are having gallbladder problems. A attack is horrible. I had to suffer for 3 yrs before mine would get to the function level required to take it out. My 1st attack I was still at 90%. The surgery is an easy one. I was sore and achy for about days and then things got back to normal. I took a week off because I am self employed and could, but I really didn't need that long off. You will feel bunches better after the GB is gone. A increased fiber diet helped me get back to normal quicker afterward.

Re: Discouraged - Can't handle much more!!

Shana2009,

Hang in there . . . after having a hysterectomy, the gallbladder will be a cinch, especially if they do it laproscopically. I had my gallbladder removed last year, and it was FULL OF STONES. I still look at my picture every now and then. I didn't have any signs of gallbladder problem, until I had a major attack, that ended up in the ER. I had my gallbladder removed the following week, and was up and running a few days there after. My surgeon said he'd never seen a gallbladder as full of stones as mine. He was so surprise that I wasn't jaundice, or that I only had the one attack.

My attack was very severe, and it literally took my breath away. I never experience pain like that and never want to again. Up until then, I had no idea what a gallbladder was or did. Again, the surgery is simple, and you'll recover nicely. You do not want the pain to get more progressive. My heart goes out to you, but I know you will overcome this challenge as well.

Re: Discouraged - Can't handle much more!!

I'm so sorry you're having trouble. I do know someone who had her gallbladder out after a hysterectomy and it seemed way easier to deal with. I know more surgery would've made me so upset but I'm 4 months post-op and time really does heal. I can't do anything about your DH but I hope you guys can talk so you can get the support you need.
