wigging out over new abdominal mass

Ladies,

I'm 9&1/2 weeks postop from TAH/BSO - my doctor recently left the country for good [yes, good!] I saw the new doctor at my 8 week mark. SHE actually listened to me about the continuing pain and low grade fevers and sent me for an ultra sound. It showed a fluid filled abdominal mass approximately the size of a LARGE man's fist. At this time they do not know what the fluid is - blood, infectious fluid, etc. Sometime tomorrow a special will call me to let me know when he has room in his schedule. My doctor has requested a cat scan and to have this other particular doctor available in case a needle aspiration is possible. My doctor is trying to keep from having to do an additional abdomenal surgery.

OK, anyone else out there have anything like this?

Anyone else have low grade fevers lasting this long?

I actually have to go alone for this cuz DH is out of town on business and family is too far away.

So tomorrow I may get a call saying come-on-over-right-away or in an hour or two. I'm not terribly nervous about what may be found, but I am someone who likes to know anything and everything about something - it keeps me calm. But I won't know anything until tomorrow.

Help

Support for you

Hi,
I'm sorry you are dealing with so much right now. I can understand how frustrated and concerned you must feel. I have not dealt with your particular problem, but we are all on this road together to listen and support one another. Low grade fevers for a number of weeks is not normal and you must feel drained. There may be some sisters here who have dealt with abdominal mass type issues, so I'm hoping someone else can shed some light on this. In the meantime, you are in my prayers.
Love, Light, Blessings

wigging out

Druid,
thanks for your reply! Having this site to turn to - not necessarily for answers, but for the support and comfort only someone else on the road can give - is invaluable.

Dealing with going back to work, hassles over only working part-time, per doctor, and then this is overwhelming. And yes, the fevers, though not extreme, are draining.

Thanks again,
CCC

I'm sorry, but I do not have any insight to share with you, but like Druid, wanted to offer you my support. I can only imagine how you must be feeling right now. Please know that we are here for you. Is there a friend/co-worker or neighbour you could ask to be on 'stand-by' to go to your dr's with you?

I will also keep you in my prayers. Please let us know how you are, and what your dr says.

Sending you soothing 'S

CCC

Hi I wish I could tell you something about the mass. But I haven't had to deal with that. I wanted to say hi and tell you I'm thinking about you and am praying that everything is fine. I hope someone can go with you to the CT. I too like to know what's going on. It's easier to deal with and handle when you know what you're up against. You are in my prayers. God bless. and s to you!

new surgery for abdominal mass

Thanks Ladies for your support -
unfortunately now aside from dealing with trying to extend my disability at work I now have to have additional surgery next week. I left work today with my big sunglasses on to cover my puffy, red and wet eyes once again. Luckily dh was still home and comforted me [and went to get me some chocolate before going back to work] and got me all comfy on the couch. Sad, frustrated because original doctor ignored my pain and fever until my 100% disability was gone.

thanks, and God Bless
