7 weeks post-op; incision infected

Well, it might explain why I haven't been feeling quite right ... one of my incisions (I had an LSH) is infected.

It sort of burst open last week. I called the doctor and then went in two days later (that would be Thursday).

The doctor didn't think it was infected then, but sent me home to watch it and such.

Saturday it was very painful and on Sunday I was miserable with a fever. So I called the dr's office and got a prescription for antibiotics.

I started them yesterday.

The fever is better today and I'm trying hard to take it easy - working from home and the phone.

My doctor reminded me that she told me it would take three months before I felt near 100% and I need to be patient with myself, but that's hard.

Maybe this is why I've also felt like my emotions were a roller coaster ... I've felt like a basketcase the last few days and had a major crying fit on Saturday.

Good thoughts & hugs please?

mlynnwi,
sorry this happened to you! I am glad your doctor figured it out and is treating you. You will be surprised how much better you feel when those antibiotics really do their job.

Take it easy if you can. We have some beautiful weather right now in our state. Lawn chairs in the yard and a good book can do wonders for healing!

Re: 7 weeks post-op; incision infected

I'm glad you're feeling better. My incision got infected too several weeks after my LSH. Perhaps it's because I have Type II Diabetes, but I tend to heal a lot slower. The incision near my navel was really stubborn. My doc applied silver-nitrate twice, and it still got infected. It wasn't until I started taking the anti-biotics that it finally began to heal - now there's scar tissue but it doesn't bother me.

Continue to take it very slow - one day at a time. It does get better!

Big, Big HUGS!!

I'm happy to hear you're on the mend! I think my belly button may be infected. It keeps draining and is very raw and has a white part in it that's not a stitch. I too am diabetic...I am going to post now with a site to my pics in hopes that someone can tell me their opinion on whether it looks like it's infected or not.
