uterine lining thickness

I am still waiting for my pathology report to come in since having the hysteroscopy and d&c done on Monday. I have a question about the thickness my doctor scraped from my uterus. I had a polyp which he removed and he told my husband he scraped away some thickening in my uterus. I guess the thickness was only on one part of my uterus? If so, does this mean it could be cancer? Or does thickening occur over the whole uterine lining? I am kind of confused because I didn't get to talk with my doctor after the surgery. I guess I am just anxious waiting for the report to come in. My husband did say the doctor told him that everything looked good. Can he tell just by looking at the samples whether it is cancer or not? Sorry about all the questions. I am just going crazy here waiting for my doctor to call.

Re: uterine lining thickness

There's a saying that was coined by a wonderful lady here."Never waste a good panic" Deep breaths hun. I know that the waiting is hard hun, It can play heck with our sleep, tummy etc. I haven't been a stranger to waiting lately either and it has been a rough go. Cancer or pre cancer can grow on only one side of the uterus yes, but chances are that it could be a benign condition as well hun. The good thing about a D&C is that it takes the whole area instead of a simple biopsy that could miss something so your Dr made a good call with that.Your Dr of course cant be 100% sure its not something more,(hence the biopsy) but looking healthy is a good start. If the results come back as something more, ie cancer or pre-cancer I urge you to see a gyn-onc as they have alot of experience in this area and will know how to best proceed. I wish I could be of more help. Let us know how you get on and I will be saying prayers for you. All the best and hopes and dreams, Jenn

Re: uterine lining thickness

My path report took a little over a week to get... I think that would be the soonest you would hear anything as it has to be sent to pathology and then the report has to be typed up and sent back to your doctor.
Hang in there... the waiting is the hardest part.

Re: uterine lining thickness

Thank you both for the replies. I am trying to stay calm but as you know, it is hard. I will post the results of my pathology as soon as I hear something. Thank you again!

Re: uterine lining thickness

My doctor's office called me last night at 6:30. They called my cell phone and of course I wasn't inside to get the call and I don't have voice mail. I am taking it as a good sign that they called after normal business hours though. Maybe if something came up bad in the path. report they would have called during business hours? Any opinions of why the call so late?

Re: uterine lining thickness

Hi!
This is just my humble opinion. It could be that the dr just didn't have time to call you during business hours because of a hectic day or so. My dr does that when I have called during the day about results or a symptom that needs attention. If I haven't called for those and I get a later night call, its usually because the dr really wants to speak with me and set things up to come in and speak with her because things were a bit dodgy. This is just my experience though. I hope all works out for the best hun, please let us know what they say. Blessings, Jenn

Re: uterine lining thickness

I hate to keep being a whiney butt, but I have a good amount of pain going on. This morning I felt pretty good. Then out of nowhere I started with pelvic pain then it radiated to my rectum. It was so bad at one point this morning I was ready to go to the doctor. The pain has eased off a little, but I still have this stabbing pain in my rectum. The pain actually radiates from my pelvic area to my rectum. It is very hard to even sit down. I am not constipated that I know of. I did 'go' this morning. I am sorry for all the graphics, but this is just what is going on. I am not running fever or bleeding worse. When I talked with the nurse I mentioned it to her. All she said is if it gets worse to call back.
Is this normal after hysteroscopy and d&c?
