Doctor ignored my request to move up surgery-I'm changing doctors

I posted on Sunday that I was considering moving my surgery up and asked for advice. Got some very supportive posts - thank you ladies.

When I woke up Monday morning in so much pain that I could barely stand up, I knew I had to move the surgery up. Called doctor's office and left message for nurse.
No response.

Called again Tuesday and left message for nurse asking if she got my message from the previous day.
Got a returned call - was told that they had experienced a power outage and their computers that contained the surgery schedule were down and she would get back with me as soon as they were back up.

Wednesday - no word. Left another message.

Thursday (today) - left another message. Still no word.
Called another OB/GYN practice that I went to briefly before I had kids. Seeing doctor at 8:30 a.m. in the morning. (I liked this practice but it was just too large for my taste when I was pregnant - 8 docs and you didn't know who would deliver.)

Can anyone believe this????

I am stunned. Not to mention hurt at being ignored. I am in pain and I am bleeding through layers of pads, tampons and clothes. I just can't believe they would do this to any patient.

I am so hoping the new doctor can help me quick.

That is horrible. Patients are no longer patients they are an annoyance and the don't care if you are hurting and scared. Shame on them!

Re: Doctor ignored my request to move up surgery-I'm changing doctors

I am so sorry to hear you are going thru this. I can't believe how doctor's offices blow off patients these days. It took 5 phone calls for me to get results of an MRI a while back. And when I was scheduled for my hysterctomy, the nurse practitioner dropped the ball on getting my pre-op testing orders faxed to my GP and then didn't bother to call me back.

It's great you got in so quickly at the other drs office. Good luck!

Sorry you are going through this on top of going through the pain and suffering. Hoping the other dr can do something for you quick before you lose to much blood. Please keep us posted. * Hugs*

I'm so sorry you went through that. However, if it was going to happen, I'm glad it happened before the surgery! Good luck with the new doctor. It would have been one thing if they said they couldn't find any non-emergency openings, but to not even call back a patient who is obviously ill??? That's a dangerous road for them to travel.

Re: Doctor ignored my request to move up surgery-I'm changing doctors

I am very sorry for what you are having to deal with. I have been in constant pain for over 3 years now and I finally changed doctor's last month. Now my surgery is scheduled for this Monday but had I not changed doctor's who knows how long it would have gone on. Hang in there I have faith that the new dr will help you right away, and thank goodness you didn't let them cut you open. I am sending prayers and hugs to you.

Re: Doctor ignored my request to move up surgery-I'm changing doctors

As the other ladies have said I'm sorry you are going through this. Good luck at your appointment today. Not returning your calls after you told them you had a decline in your condition is unprofessional and unethical. As regslady implied it also borders on patient abandonment. Thankfully you are not a post-surgical patient in need of attention. Then a new practice would be reluctant to take you on. Good luck and keep us posted.
