My first 3 month follow up
Hi Ladies,
I have my first 3 month follow up on Sept. 1st. Does anyone have any tips on anything I should ask or prepare for? I am getting a bad case of cancerhead, imagining all kinds of things being found
This site has been so helpful to me, very enlightening at times too!

Re: My first 3 month follow up
I imagine nothing much will happen at that appontment except for an internal exam, etc. I also had endometrial cancer stage 1. My 3 month followup was just on August 6, 2009. Good thoughts are being sent to you and just try to keep the faith.

Re: My first 3 month follow up
Mine isn't until Oct. but I already thought of one question. Since the place it usually comes back to is the vaginal cuff or lung, I want to know if a chest xray is going to be part of my following...that's just what i have thought of so far. Scarey thing all this waiting...and I decided not to do radiation on advise of the rad/onc and I don't know how my dr. will feel about that. Hang in there...there's lots of us nervous Nellie's out here lurking..

Re: My first 3 month follow up
Hi Carol,
I had my first post-op appointment last Monday and are scheduled over 3 months. My gyn/onc said that when I would walk out of the door over 3 months I had to be absolutely sure that I felt ok! She suggested I'd write down anything that bothered me. We also went over signals I had to be alert on, like bleeding, changed BM or bladderfunction, lymfedema, or one leg getting bigger than the other leg b/c of a bloodvessel being pinched or anything else I thought I'd want to know more about. She explained to me that usually she'd just do an internal and only when I would think something was wrong or had a sense like that, OR that she'd have that, she would do more testing.
What I do is write down all kind of questions during the weeks in a little notebook because I seem to have forgotten it by the time I'm seeing the dr.
I always prepare my appointments like this, so to not forget what I want to know about. This notebook lies in my nightstand.
If you can't think of any questions, that can also be a very good signal! Maybe there is nothing that has made you feel scared or uncomfortable and have you been healing very well.
I can understand that cancerhead is showing up, though! Look him right in the face, acknowledge your fears! That's totally normal.
Sending you bunches of light!

Re: My first 3 month follow up
Thank you everyone for your input and much needed support . All my family is in the UK, and although I do talk to my husband about it, he doesn't understand totally, like my sisters on this wonderful site do.
Thanks again for all your positive thoughts, they are helping me right now!

Re: My first 3 month follow up
I have found that doctors vary quite a bit in their treatment/follow-up.
Because I chose not to do any chemo/radiation, my gyn/onc has me do a CA-125 and a ct scan every 6 months. A lot of doctors, only do a pelvic exam and ask that the patient tell them if they have other symptoms that need looking into.
It never hurts to ask for something if you are concerned not enough is being done to follow up, however your fears will lessen as time goes by with no recurrence.
Best to you.
