3 wks post-op and started bleeding..anyone else
Ok so I had my TAH/BSO on Aug 10. I had some brownish discharge when I left the hospital but on Sat/sun started spotting more like a reddish color like when you first start ur period before the flood gates open...im not in any pain but just feel really sore in my abdomen/pelvic region...could it be than im starting to bleed more because I have started to move around more...doin dishes/driving/light cooking/cleaning??? Anyone else have this? Kinda freaks me out cuz didn't expect bleeding this far out(not like im really far)but expected it straight out of the castle. I haven't been bending or carrying anything heavy so dontknow..guess ill call my dr in the am...any answers would be very appreciated. Thanks sisters....

If it's light or very light occ spotting, it's probably normal. You may just be losing serous fluid (like in a blister). I wondered abt doing too much after 9 days when I began to leak and then flow this fluid very heavily. My dr told me what it was, but it sure wd have been nice if I had known abt it earlier.

An uneducated guess - perhaps you had an internal "scab" of sorts that has now released and you're having spotting until a new one forms. Sort of like when a child scratches off a scab and the wound bleeds again for a short time.
Of course if it's bright red bleeding that is heavy, continuous or painful, you should contact your doctor IMMEDIATELY.

Hi (((PMartin)))
It may be that your stitches are dissolving. This happens for some of us. Mine actually lasted for a few weeks.

Re: 3 wks post-op and started bleeding..anyone else
Hi Pmartin, I had the same issue (am now 4 weeks post-op). My bleeding was very light, pinkish, almost stopping for first two weeks and then at week number three, started having days where it was red and heavier, though still spotting. Have been told to expect this as the sutures dissolve, but was still worried. Called the doctor and she said not to worry as long as it's not heavy and slows after awhile. She said "normal" post-op bleeding can be 4-6 weeks.

Re: 3 wks post-op and started bleeding..anyone else
I only spotted for 3 days after surgery then I started spotting 17 days post op and it got heavier as the day progressed until it was bright red whenever I urinated or wiped with toilet tissue and would cover the tp. Called the dr. and she just told me to rest. The next morning after a night of rest it has trickled back to spotting but the cramps that night and the next day were so bad I started taking the percocet again and advil. (hadn't taken it since day 3)
Now I am just resting at home and the spotting and cramping is almost gone. Haven't taken any advil or percocet all day.
I guess I did too much. But I really felt better everyday after day 3 and was amazed that everyday I would regain some little movement (w/o pain). The only restriction I had was no lifting anything more than 15 pounds. I made sure I always carried light things and made numerous trips with little loads (walking was something the dr. encouraged me to do). The day I started spotting I had gone with my family to move my daughter into college and I just ordered everyone around. I also went to work three days that week but my job is sitting on my butt researching on my computer. I thought I was safer at work as I felt soo good I knew I wouldn't be able to sit at home and not clean, organize, wash, vacum etc.
Now I think I will resort to little tiny baby steps. Don't want that pain to come back ever again.

Re: 3 wks post-op and started bleeding..anyone else
I had the same thing, I never had any bleeding or anything after surgery, then all of a sudden 2 1/2 - 3 weeks after I started to have bleeding, I took it easy, put my feet up, and the Dr said it was normal unless you have fever, or sautate a pad ina short amount of time. I also had an infection, but they said that the pinkish color is ok. Good luck, dont panic, just rest.

Re: 3 wks post-op and started bleeding..anyone else
Just like everyone else, my spotting got worse at week three. My doc told me to expect it the third week because that's when sutures start dissolving. He was right on the money.
As a side note - it's pretty freaky when the sutures come out. With the first one I thought it was a bug. Not a fun few minutes.

Re: 3 wks post-op and started bleeding..anyone else
I had the exact same thing as you with the brownish discharge early on and then spotting at about the 3 week point. It continued off and on until just a few days ago. I mentioned it to my dr. and he said it was totally normal. He told me sex might bring it on again (it did) but it is less in less. I noticed that the more active I was, the more I'd spot, but I didn't let that keep me from doing things that were okay to do. If you're pushing too hard though, definitely slow down.
