Unhappy - Left ovary removed, part of right ovary removed....I need some support Left ovary removed, part of right ovary removed....I need some support

He Ladies
thank you so much for giving me a place to come and talk.
Last tuesday i had lapro surgery to remove my gallbladder, my left ovary and fallopian tube, and cysts off my right ovary.

Ive been doing fine as far as the gallbladder- but my Dr didnt give me any info on what to expect about my ovaries.

I started spotting brown blood right after the surgery and have had a steady but slow trickle for the whole time. This morning I woke up to find my period has come, two weeks early. the blood is bright red now and im a bit crapmy. How long can I expect this to bleed?

Ive been very emotional lately. Tearful, grumpy, needy, weepy. its like having pms all the time. Im guessing my hormones are all out of whack.

My tummy is so swollen and bloated, I look 3-4 months pregnant. My loose jeans dont even fit me. Sometimes my boobs hurt, and my face is breaking out.

Ive still got some pain and tenderness in my right side where they worked on that ovary. I dont know if they took it out through my belly button, or my vagina. Could I tell if they had cut my vagina? this has me really worried that he used an instrument to manupulate my womb or cut my vagina. I almost cant think about it.

when can I have sex? My BF is very understanding and we wonder when we can have sex...can we do 'other things', etc. although right now im bleeding so.....

I did manage to get to talk to my drs nurse today but she just told me to wrote down my questions and ask at my follow up appt next week .

I know I asked alot of questions, but if any one has and advice, id really find it comforting. Im just all alone right now recovering and no one to talk to

Re: Left ovary removed, part of right ovary removed....I need some support

Angie,
We are not doctors here, so cannot advise you on when it will be okay for you to resume sex with your BF. You will need to discuss this with your doctor. It all depends on how much work he did and how slow or fast you heal. I would absolutely not resume relations until you get the all clear from the doctor. A few weeks out of a lifetime is nothing.

If you had a lapro surgery, I would think odds are that it came thru the lap incision. I am sure if they cut your vagina that you would know. You would have stitches. Again, you need to ask your doctor for the details of your surgery.

Swolleness and tenderness is common following surgery. As for the period, this is a hysterectomy support forum, thus most of us here do not get periods any longer. I did have an ovary removed many years ago, but honestly cannot remember if my period came early or not.

You really need to call your doctor and ask him these questions personally so he can determine if it is normal for *you*. Keep calling and being a pest. If necessary, go to his office and sit there until someone will talk to you. It sounds very odd to me that the nurse will not give the doctor a message for him to call you.

Best wishes to you in your recovery. Take it slow and easy.
