endometrial stripe measured 14mm with "possible" submuscosal fibroid

I have been googling , ask .coming and all of the above and found this site to be very helpful with my many questions. However, I still have many more... I had an U/s and a Trans vag U/S last week. I am 37 with 2 c-sections and a tubal ligation. My endometrial stripe measured 14mm with "possible" submuscosal fibroid. My doctor has scheduled a D&C and a Hysteroscopy. I am peri menopausal and very concerned with what decisions lie ahead. I have heard many women go through what I am about to and after many Ultrasounds, many hysteroscopy's and D&C 's they wish they had went with the Hysterectomy from the very beginning. Any suggestions?? I am scheduled for my procedures in 2 weeks.

My first suggestion is to seek a second opinion to help determine what is best for you! Sometimes a second physician will have additional suggestions based on his/her knowledge and experience.

My second suggestion is to learn all about the pros and cons of a hysterectomy. It is my opinion that women should try the less invasive options first as often they have less risks involved. A hysterectomy is a major, irreversible surgery that is not without risks. As one who had surgical complications with mine, I can assure you those risks are real and do affect you in many ways!

We have a lot of information in our Resource Database that you could read through to learn more about your diagnoses and the various options for them.

You are doing the right thing by asking questions! I hope that you find the answers you are looking for so you can determine what is best for you!

Thank you Weiser... I went for my D&C and the Dr. couldn't get me to dialate, he said the Fibroid wouldn't allow the hysteroscope to get through either, he said he was afraid to perforate my bladder as the hysteroscope was hitting the fibroid and bending towards my bladder.
i am scheduled for a TAH on Nov. 11th 2009 I have yet to decide on keeping my ovaries. I am horribly scared, yet ready to have it done and over with.

Thank you for your reply to my first post.
