Re: i'm keeping my ovaries; possibility of early menopause?
((1beautifulmess))
It is possible for the ovaries to cease functioning fairly immediately as their blood supply is interrupted with the removal of the uterus. Other ladies find that their ovaries go ahead and shut down shortly after a hysterectomy.
If your ovaries do continue to function as they should, you should reach natural menopause only about 3-5 years sooner than if you had not had a hysterectomy.
For what it is worth, my ovaries are continue to function nine years post op. My mother's worked for over 20 years and she started menopause shortly after turning 50.
Hope this helps!
