Feeling like less then a woman

Hi Ladies! Let me start with a little background. I'm 28 yrs. old had a LAVH-BSO on Sept. 4,2009. I've been on the vivelle .5 patch pretty much the whole 10 days. Anyhoo, I am really feeling like less then a woman, it has gotten so bad that my poor fiance can't talk to any woman without me thinking he's going to leave me because I think they see me as ugly and like I'm turning into a man. I don't know what to do to stop these feelings. Has anyone else felt this way? Is it normal and will it go away? Thanx for the time ladies.

Re: Feeling like less then a woman

I think some women feel less like a woman, but I never did. You're not going to turn into a man even if you don't take any hormones. I have never felt different, just had hot flashes and moodiness, and they have gotten better over the years.

I am sorry you are going through this. I would not give into these feelings. Maybe you need to treat yourself to something pretty or go get pampered at a spa. Remember, you are the same person, and this surgery does not change who you or what you look like. I actually think I look better, the hormones have made my skin smooth and soft and hardly any wrinkles.

You need to give yourself time to heal from the surgery and give your hormones several weeks to work.

Hang in there

Re: Feeling like less then a woman

You are very early in your recovery and need time to recoup your sense of wellbeing. Speaking from experience, it can be a rough time emotionally. That being said....the 0.5 patch is a lower dose patch. At 28 you may need more estrogen...?
A low estrogen symptom of mine is sadness, lack of confidence and if it continues I start to have a very irrational view of myself.

Think about calling your Dr to discuss how you're feeling.

Hope you feel better soon.

Re: Feeling like less then a woman

I think that some women have these feelings of not being "whole" or not being a whole woman, I myself haven't experienced these feelings. But i did have feelings of being useless to my family, which has passed. With the advice that I have received from others on HS, I had to realize that my family wants for me to get better just as I do, and them helping me is one way that they can contribute. This journey that we are on, is as much mental as it is physical. Just remember to keep your goal in mind of getting better and feeling better. Give yourself time to heal from the inside out. Stay positive and know that if you need to vent, ask questiona, read other posts, or reply to posts (it really helps to know that you may be helping someone else)-visit HS for the wonderful ladies that are here to aid you in your recovery! I wish you the best in your recovery! Take care and get plenty of rest!
