Avoiding UTI

Sorry to keep posting, just have lots of questions. I am curious if I drank a lot of cranberry juice and had some at the hospital for when I wake up if that might stop the on-set of a UTI?

Re: Avoiding UTI

why would you be getting the uti? Are you worried about the cath? My doctor gives antibiotics as a prophylactic during the surgery. They should prevent any UTI's

Re: Avoiding UTI

Wackycamper,
if you are prone to UTI you probably should start drinking the juice and take cranberry supplements before you go for surgery to make your body more resistent to the infection. After the surgery you may not be able to dring a lot. But you can resume the juice after going back home.

Will this prevent infection? Nobody knows...
Best luck and take care

Re: Avoiding UTI

I got this stuff at the pharmacy (OTC) that is called AZO cranberry that I swear by for UTI. I'm very prone to them but this keeps the bacteria that cause UTI from being able to adhere to the urinary tract lining. Blueberry is also wonderful for this, so I have blueberry and pomegranate juice awaiting my return home just in case.
