Re: Fibroids: please help

I had fibroids as well, but had no idea I had them!! Until I started hemmoraging, I went to the ER twice before a gyno finally did a internal and saw what she described as a "nasty, blue vascular mass" in my cervix. So she sent me to another hospital the next day to an oncologist. They thought I had advanced cancer and told my husband to get his affairs in order! Mean time I was still hemmoraging, I had numerous blood transfusions and was put in a private room as they thought I was dying!!
I, however knew (somehow) that it was not cancer, so they did an exploratory surgery (vaginally) took a biopsy of the mass and found it to be benign, it was a massive fibroid in my cervix. I also had some smaller ones in my uterous, so they booked me for a hysterectomy a month later and couldn't believe how big it was.
They took pictures of it, as they had never seen one that big!!
I had never had any type of surgery before and was actually looking forward to it so I would stop bleeding.
Myomectomy was never mentioned, I don't think it was even a choice in my circumstance. I really didn't have any time to think about what was going on, probably a blessing!!
Now that I am post-op 2 yrs I am very grateful it is all over, I think it is a good thing you are able to get a second opinion and are able to explore other options, this will give you some peace of mind about your decision,
Good luck to you and God bless
