Menopausal Fog, anyone else?

I am 2 weeks post op from having my remaining ovary removed and cannot believe the fog I am in. I am finding that even typing is difficult. I have to reread everything and I am constantly losing my train of thought. I have just been cleared to return to work on Monday and I have to get my head together. Has anyone else gone through this and how long did it last? I have been on the Vivelle patch for about a week now and it seems to be helping the other symptoms of menopause. Please let me know. Thanks.

Re: Menopausal Fog, anyone else?

The anesthesia fog lasts about 6 weeks. Hang in there!

Re: Menopausal Fog, anyone else?

Lisa,
Oh yeah, the is a common symptom during the early recovery period. I don't think there is a set time period as to what is normal and what is not and when it will go away. Honestly, I couldn't tell you when the fog got better, but do know as I got farther away from my surgery date and closer to hormone balance it did get better. I think the fog is more a symptom of hormones than from anethesia. I have had numerous surgeries since my tah/bso and only had the after my tah/bso.

Re: Menopausal Fog, anyone else?

The fog is pretty intense, isn't it? I have to read things over and over too and make a lot more typing errors than I used to!

I will say it fades a little more everyday so there's hope for us that it won't last forever.

Best wishes!

Thanks for the responses. I will let you know how work goes on Monday since all of my work is done on a computer! LOL.

Re: Menopausal Fog, anyone else?

Mine didn't really fade until I started on progesterone and it's still there a little bit. I'm certainly not as sharp as I once was.

But, I'm considering it a fair trade for a pain free life so take that how you will.
