Just started Testosterone compound an hour ago

Hi,
I haven't posted in a long time. I had a oopherectomy (hope I spelled it right!) with cervix left intact in October 2003. In fact yesterday was my 6th anniversary. I had endomentriosis and ovarian cysts.
I have been on Vagifem and this is the only HRT I have used. (I am now 47).
Okay so my sex life is awful, my poor hubby and I have an almost zero sex life. On my hyster anniversary (October 1) I had my yearly gyn appt. I told my dr. about my lack of libido because I decided I can't live like this anymore. She put me on a testosterone compound. Here's the details:
It is .5% The dosage is 1/2 to 1 ml a day for a week and then 2x a week after. It is on the receipt listed as:
Testosterone propionate usp micronized CIII (base, pcca emollient cream (TM); base, PCCA cosmetic HRT (TM)

Does anyone have any experience with this particular compound? Also in conjunction with the vagifem? So this means it is just estrogen and testosterone for my HRT.
Any advice or what I can expect stories would be welcome!
Thanks!
Marianne

You should know that Vagifem is only a localized estrogen source for vaginal health only. It is not systemic estrogen. It doesn't pass much further than the vagina and surrounding tissues.

Why would you not use a systemic form of estrogen replacement (in addition to vagifem?)

Hope your testosterone helps.

Re: Just started Testosterone compound an hour ago

I had my hysterectomy in 2003 when any kind of hormone replacement was a big no-no. Now with the discovery of the estrogen/progesterone connection it is a different story. I started using Vagifem in 2004 for vaginal dryness only. My menopause symptoms were also very minimal (pretty lucky I guess and like my mom) and I opted not to have systemic replacement since it was the thing then to err on the side of caution. But if I had my hysterectomy today? I would definitely use systemic hormone replacement knowing what we know now.
But the lack of libido has been my worst symptom. That's why I am on the testosterone compound. Hope it helps too.
