running worsen prolapsed uterus pre-op?

Scheduled for TAH 11/3/09 for adeno, endo, prolapsed uterus. Can't seem to get a straight answer from my MD. Any experience, guidance from running sisters further along in the process - will running for the next three weeks worsen my prolapsed uterus or complicate my surgery and/or recovery in any way that you all know? Thanks!!!

Re: running worsen prolapsed uterus pre-op?

LBSS--

I ran before my 1st surgery and I didn't notice that it had any effect on my surgery. I wanted to be sure I was in good shape before my surgery. I was. I still had complications BUT I don't think it was from my running. It didn't cause anything to further prolapse. My doctor didn't tell me to stop before the surgery. I didn't have anything 'fall' farther along the way. Before my 1st surgery, I had a fairly high level of stress incontinence and it was still bad BUT it didn't hurt and it wasn't made worse by running (it was still at its normal 'bad' level). The surgery did help the prolapse, by the way. I just wish I had not done it with the artificial mesh.

Hope that info helps a little. I was given a LOT of restrictions for recovery afterwards and didn't run for awhile. Then I had mesh erosion complications and had several surgeries that I always seemed to be recovering from and those certainly did NOT help, but my recovery was not the usual course.
