Newly diagnosed

Hello...I have been recently diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer. Thursday I will see an oncology gynecologist. Last October I had the leep procedure to rid myself of carcinoma in situ. Now one year later I've been through more paps, coposcopy and conization. Now it is invasive cancer. Does this mean it has been growing for an entire year? My gyno says I will have to have a radical hysterectomy. Has this happened to anyone out there. I am 60 years old with 5 children. Thank you for being here.

Re: Newly diagnosed

Thank you for your reply. I am wishing you a speedy recovery. How are you feeling? When you need chemo do you have to wait until everything is healed?

Re: Newly diagnosed

Hi there,

I had CIN 3 cervical dysplasia - had cone biopsy and leep not too long ago, and then on 9/18 had a di vinci laproscopic hysterectomy that removed the uterus and ovaries. I also had fibroids. Pathology came back clear and I am glad I moved forward on the hysterectomy. Stay positive and ask your doctor lost of questions. I would come in with two pages of questions, and not need an exam - just answers to my questions, so just booked a 15 min consultation. Made me feel alot better about my decision. I feel great. I'll be thinking of you.
