Rectum pressure
I had a full abdominal hysterectomy on August 16, 2001. It has now been 4 weeks and am now experiencing pain the rectum like I am pushing to go to the bathroom all the time. It is very uncomfortable. I'm not sure if it is from the surgery or something else. I also have multiple sclerosis so want to rule out it being the surgery before I pursue other courses of action. I am working on Kegel exercises, but can't seem to have any control over that muscle at all. Anyone else out there ever had this or should I see if it is the MS? HELP!

pressure/pain
I am having the same thing but to me it's more like pressure with itching. When I do finally have a bm, it hurts soooooo bad! I had posterior repairs.....did you need anything like that?

Rectum pressure
lilbit,
No, no itching and I didn't have any repair done. It's just getting aggravating...and uncomfortable to be having so much pressure whenever something gets into my colon. I plan on asking the surgeon soon. I put a message through to his nurse so hopefully I'll get an answer of some sort tomorrow.

pressure
yyellowrose,
please let me know what they tell you. The pain i'm having may be due to a fall at 3 wks post-op. I'm back on pain meds since it keeps me up at night.
Any clue would be helpful! If I actually get to talk to my doctor or his assistant tomorrow(or is that today?), I'll let you know what they say.

Call your surgeon
Hi yyellowrose, I'm sorry to hear that you're having this problem. I didn't experience what you're describing at any point during my recovery. Since this is a new problem, I think you should contact your surgeon first, to see if it's related to your hysterectomy.
I'm sure it's a struggle to be dealing with MS also, so I'm sending some 's and healing thoughts your way. Let us know what you find out, ok?
