Cramping and pain with urination 8 weeks post-op

Hi,

I need some help here. I'm 8 weeks post-op. My next Dr. appointment is this Friday, October 9th. During my last visit I asked my Dr. to test me for a UTI. Results were negative.

I'm still experiencing pain with urination. When I had cramping before...it was gas. However I don't have gas, just cramping like a menstrual period and sharp pains in my vagina. It feels like something is in the vagina. I was told by my Dr. that I have a vaginal cuff. That I may see some purplish stitches but, I haven't seen anything.

The sharp pains in my vagina kind of feel like it did when my Dr. did a biopsy of my cervix in her office.

Last Friday, I had to walk to pick up my children from school because the person designated to pick them up fell asleep. The children were in school an hour after school let out. I'm wondering if that could be the problem. I have 20 steps leading out my apartment building and have to walk approximately 10 minutes to get to my children's school.

If you have experienced this at 8 weeks post-op or more, please respond. :new

Re: Cramping and pain with urination 8 weeks post-op

I have to say I had some pain for quite some time after my TVH. It did seem to get better with time. I also would go to my doc and the UTI test was negative. Then two weeks later I went back and I found out that I did have an infection. So it does pay to follow up with your doc even if the first test was negative. My thoughts are we know our bodies best and should always follow up, even if your in doubt.
Best wishes to you. I hope you feel better soon.

Re: Cramping and pain with urination 8 weeks post-op

I am 7 1/2 weeks and still feel like I have period cramps but there's nothing left in me!!! I am having some bladder leakage too and talked to the nurse today who said it may be a UTI and, if it's not, they will see if it's my vaginal cuff.

Sounds like a lot of us are in the same boat. I hope you feel better soon!

Re: Cramping and pain with urination 8 weeks post-op

Thank you my Sisters for responding to my post!!! @ Peppermint Peggy, I'm thinking it may be my vaginal cuff. I hope not! @ CardioQueen, I will definitely ask my doctor to do a repeat UTI test because I can't imagine having bladder spasms this long?! CardioQueen... we almost have identical health histories with regards to surgical procedures. @ felican 2002, how did you find out about the bladder injury? WOW!!! Was that right after surgery?

I also wanted to add... sometimes with the cramping, I feel a pull in the vagina and burning? I'm thinking it may be the vaginal cuff or UTI and the vaginal cuff. Oh Lord y'all I'm going to drive myself nutts trying to figure out what is going on here.

Please continue to respond, I really appreciate the support... Thank GOD for whoever thought of this website!!! You are a GODSEND!!!

Re: Cramping and pain with urination 8 weeks post-op

I found out about my bladder injury 6 days after surgery, I was still in the hospital unable to go on my own. On the sixth day after being off and on a catherer for days urine started spooling out of my incision to my shock. Luckily I had a very good urologist. He sent me home on my 11th day post op with the catherer to keep my bladder drain and heal naturally. IT did heal on its own, did develope 3 uti along the way. the only thing I have left is this pain during urination that I plan on getting check out.. best of luck to you and hope u feel better soon.

felican,
I feel sorry for you for having to have the catheter for a month. I don't think I could have stood it. I had a BSO a week ago (Sept. 28th), and the nicked my bladder so I had to come home with the catheter. I was able to have it removed one week after my surgery and was soooo happy. I don't think I could have stood it any longer. I was sooo miserable with it. I could feel it when I was sitting, and when I walked.

Re: Cramping and pain with urination 8 weeks post-op

I am so glad I found this thread...
will be 5 weeks post op on Friday and I still have bladder pain, especially when urinating. Tested for UTI seven days after surgery and it was negative. Do you think it was too soon? Had leaking for quite a few days also, but that healed itself. My Dr. always wants to do a cystoscope, which I cringe at the thought! Now at least I know this just might be a normal recovery for me (of course I didn't follow all the rules of pampering myself and I think I over did it the first two weeks). Had bad cramping last night and also, still suffering from a bad case of the shingles and still on pain meds for that.
Didn't mean to ramble, it just helps so much to write this stuff down and have the understanding out there that no one else besides us could possibly grasp!

Re: Cramping and pain with urination 8 weeks post-op

This just happened to me yesterday! I am 7 weeks post op TVH...I am having bladder spasms and have to go pee all the time. My cuff was cramping all night and I feel like something is in me...I hope it is swelling and not a prolapse. I have been fine in the cuff area all this time and then bam, all of the sudden I feel cramping and pulling and burning -

I am going to the Dr today - I am so scared. I was just there last week and he said the cuff was healing well and I show no signs of prolapse.

I have no bleeding, but cramping and I think it is coming from the cuff area and also had alot of burning in the vag-gee-gee - And I got up every hour to pee. Why now? I have not even had sex yet, and now I am afraid there is a complication and my hubby and I will never have sex!

It seems like when I finally have a good day, I get hit with something else.

Please let us know what your doctor has to say. Sounds like many of us are in the same position judging from this posting and other similar ones.
